Pygmalion

I was just starting a Mojave 3 bender when I realized that I don't have Slowdive's Pygmalion, and have never actually heard a bit of it. That sucks.

Anyone know where I can find a copy for less than $50? Other slowdive too, come to think of it. I've only got Just For A Day and Souvlaki.

Yes, you must track down Pygmalion. For a snippet, pick up the soundtrack to The Doom Generation. "Blue Skied and Clear" is THE perfect Slowdive song... One of the best movie endings ever, too, thanks to the song.

Pygmalion is indeed a must-listen, and you also need the early EPs...

Poor Derrick is like "I need it but where can I find it?" and everyone answers "yes you really need it!"

I dunno, Derrick. If you want at a reasonable price, maybe you can find a used record store that does mail-order -- one where you can reserve any used copies that come in at normal prices? For example, Reckless Records here in Chicago has used copies fairly often, and they sell for (I think) $10.99 or so -- I don't think they have mail-order set up well enough, but you might be able to find a similar situation out there where, if you ask nicely, they'd be willing to reserve you a copy and mail it out to you.

You can also check all of those online used-CD exchange dealies -- I don't really use these so I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing if you kept checking you might eventually see a copy come through (and some of them might have a wishlist function where you can reserve things yet to come).

Or you could of course just download it, if you have any problems with finding it, let me know and I'll rip it and share it on slsk.org. It's not as if they'll get any royalties if you buy a used copy anyway.

> "Blue Skied and Clear" is THE perfect Slowdive song...

would now be the time to mention the 'blue skied an' clear' compilation on morr music? a cd worth of slowdive covers done by the various artists on the morr label and a second cd of new material by the same artists?

I have a friend who has a copy on vinyl, and he is always talking about selling off all of his vinyl. I could ask. I burned him a copy of the CD, so it isn't like he's going to listen to the record anymore... he doesn't even have a record player.

I'd buy a copy on vinyl, sure. ooh!

Is the Morr compilation much good? I'm interested to hear it.

oh LORD. I caved and got it off soulseek last night, and it's fucking gold.

I thought this thread was going to be about critics who give advice in their reviews, trying to play Higgins to some musician's Doolittle. (Insert Pixies joke here.) (Or not.)
