i) Delete threads (done twice IIRC) ii) Delete individual messages (done very few times) iii) Delete messages from a particular IP address (not done) iv) Alter message content. (done twice to my own posts). v) Switch the forum so that only I can start threads (tempted).
Cheers, Tom

i think we should ban everyone we disagree with, who has a different sense of humor than us, or who we dislike because their knowledge threatens us in some way. i really don't think the internet is about information dissemination or bridging cultural boundaries. it's about being constantly annoyed with *someone* at any given time, and complaining to some authority figure about how that person is totally ruining everything, and how we're big fucking crybabies about everything so we need to lock them out of the system, especially since we're too whiny and lazy to read past their posts.

BAN "res"
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 18 May 2008 07:08 (seventeen years ago)
I'm shocked at this thread. I mean of all people to ban...DJ Martian?? That's inconceivable.
― Bimble, Sunday, 18 May 2008 07:22 (seventeen years ago)
People can't deal with him cos he's too real.
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 18 May 2008 07:37 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, hahaha he's just too cool for school.
― Bimble, Sunday, 18 May 2008 07:48 (seventeen years ago)
You joke, but this has happened. I believe there are even several names on the 'ilx milk carton' thread who were, shall we say, forcibly excused.
What DID become of DJ Martian, anyway? Is he under Giant's Stadium?
― If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Sunday, 18 May 2008 09:29 (seventeen years ago)
currently very hung over i should imagine. i wonder if any of the americans know why this thread was revived?
― Frogman Henry, Sunday, 18 May 2008 09:34 (seventeen years ago)
Frankly I think DJ Martian hasn't posted in awhile because um...the threads here have got dreadfully boring of late. *whistles*
I'm an American and I have no bloody idea why this thread was revived. I can't even believe there were posts here in 2000. I never knew this place went back further than 2001.
― Bimble, Sunday, 18 May 2008 09:35 (seventeen years ago)
It got bumped because Fad Gadget just went to #1 in the UK with their cover of "Pleasant Valley Sunday".
― Dom Passantino, Sunday, 18 May 2008 09:39 (seventeen years ago)
bahahah
― Bimble, Sunday, 18 May 2008 09:39 (seventeen years ago)
Damnit Fad Gadget sounds so good right now. I wish I could say I bought a whole CD of him. Never did.
― Bimble, Sunday, 18 May 2008 09:46 (seventeen years ago)
This feels like the oldest thread I have ever seen.
― the pinefox, Sunday, 18 May 2008 15:01 (seventeen years ago)
Feel free to ban me. I seem to be having problems walking away at the moment.

you don't think i've noticed this? i've seen the most interesting people on this board consistently expelled, and seen this board go from something that was unique, funny, and inclusive to a police state whose easily-offended user base is constantly calling for the authorities to sanitize and eradicate everything that does not meet their ridiculously nebulous standards of merit/humor/decorum.
now that i think about it, the changes in this board over the past few years seem to mirror the decline and fall of the United States under the Bush administration and an increasingly intolerant and ignorant populace. it's quite ironic, actually, given the obvious liberal bent of most of the people here. sure, you can get control, but at the cost of personal freedom, at the cost of having an interesting place to bond with people, and at the cost of having free-spirited and honest conversation-- all of which you are apparently willing to part with so you can ban someone who makes an off-color joke. Great thinking there!
Just look at this huge list of banning requests. You do have the power and right to run your own board, but I hope that you can be mature and thoughtful enough to think about the effects of your actions. Grow up and learn that the world is not going to re-adjust itself to your personal whims, and learn to embrace the variety of opinions, and ignore those that offend you.
Anyway, RIP ILX.

Hi Nude Spock!
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 18 May 2008 16:11 (seventeen years ago)
Well done DJ Martian. Well done Portsmouth Football Club. Well done Kanu. Well done that man with the bell thing
Today of all days lets put aside out difference and congratulate DJ Martian who right now is probably the happiest person here
― vaqueros, Sunday, 18 May 2008 16:12 (seventeen years ago)
There is a reason why Nude Spock gets repeatedly banned and DJ Martian is loved by one and all.

BIG BELL RINGING TWUNT UP IN THE PLACE TONIGHT
TCWTB covers request list:

Lassana Diarra has a gentleman's agreement with Portsmouth that he can quit Fratton Park if one of European football's big clubs come knocking. (Daily Mail, 1112 BST)
― Dom Passantino, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:35 (seventeen years ago)
His bouts of bell-ringing actually sync up perfectly with the rhythm tracks to certain Ulver albums - test this out for yourself next time MOTD's live coverage fails to block him out
― DJ Mencap, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:37 (seventeen years ago)
Awww man the semantic argument that is due to kick off when Tottenham try and sign Diarra is going to be a treat.
