Lyrics Born speaks for me

The distinctions that didn't matter: black DJ, asian singer, asian rapper. The distinctions that did matter: DJ high on funk, singer doing reggae like opera, rapper flowing like a scat one minute, a ragga deejay the next, all conversational and hookie all the way through. They opened tonight for Galactic, a so-so New Orleans jam band, in Minneapolis and I was "feeling" the hippie chicks dancing to Lyrics Born and company.

I was also "feeling" the MC his self. I admit to not obsessing over Latyrx (sp?), a mistake I intend to correct. I admit to only admiring the Quannum comps. I now submit that whatever full length album Lyrics Born emits in the next year will become the shit of ILM, mark my words. What's this board anyway without drunken late-night hyperbole?

I also saw the Horrors and Bob Log III this evening and got kissed by a woman who wasn't my girlfriend, all of them kinda guilty peak experiences, so sorry if I'm rambling nonstop. And I love my girlfriend, btw. There's a question here somewhere.

So you're not racist. Yes, we get it.

Yes that's exactly what I meant. Why didn't I just come out and say it? I'm not a racist. Thank you, thank you, everyone, no please, you're too kind.

Lyrics Born is one of my favorite vocalists around right now. Good Lord that dude is the bomb!

If you can find his track called "Always Fine Tuning", that's a keeper among keepers. It might be on the Solesides' Greatest Bumps album.

And yes, he sometimes sounds like a grandpa ("Balcony Beach"), but not all the time ("Concentration", "Lady Don't Tekno").

I am kinda curious how he ended up opening for Galactic, as "so-so" a band as I can think of (although their drummer is the POO!)...but I'm glad LB delivered (*wondering when I'm gonna get to see him in concert*).

Lyrics Born is fantastic. I'd highly recommend a track he did with Dan the Automator on the "I changed my mind" EP called "Always Fine Tuning". It's one of my favorite tracks. Which I have in digital format if you wish to sample...

I think people really slept on the first Latyrx album, which is just a shame.

However, I heard some singles for Lyric's forthcoming album and absolutely hated that R&B shit that was in the both choruses. I can't even remember the track titles it was out of my mind so fast.

Cprek's playing "Always Fine Tuning" on his radio show = where I heard it to begin with.

These damn indie rappers never collect all their stray great tracks into one classic album...

In, like, ten years, there will be a compilation of all the tracks Cut Chemist & Blackalicious did together that will OWN ALL ALBUMS EVAH!
