why? cos everyone in my office hates the former totally irrationally, but somehow thinks going to see the latter will somehow be a fulfilling and entertaining experience.

nb. Avril hits Oz sometime in June - I'm severely tempted.

So. Avril live vs. GA live? She sure as fuck beats 'em on record, in terms of honesty & pure tuneliness alone.

Charlie (Charlie), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

and also her name is a lot lot better

Honda (Honda), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Groove Armada have some good songs, Final Shakedown and even moreso Superstylin'. Add to that the fact that going to watch Avril and her band hack out rock music for a while is not conducive to any kind of atmosphere while watching groove armada blast out their shiny if boring house is at least danceable and they have a few ragga mcs and a trombone. Lots of haters had to admit GA aren't a bad live act after Glasto, the new album has some more uptempo songs aswell.

Superstylin' is a fantastic record. Avril is as shit as any other shit rock act and there are millions.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, I knew I was gonna come onto this thread and just say "I disagree with Ronan" (and I sort of like Groove Armada).

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Groove Armada cannot single-handedly derail any ILM thread in which their name is brought up.

Avril "Warewolf Jail-Bait" Lavigne wins my affections.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I've not heard Groove Armada.....anywhere i could download me some mp3's of theirs that I may weigh my options?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Although yes, if we're talking about live, I would probably rather see Groove Armada.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd take Groove Armada over Avril Lavigne. Then again, I'd take the sound of my grandmother's death rattle over Avril Lavigne. Did you see the pre-Brits interviews? "Woah, Coldplay rock man!". Fuck off, get a haircut, a new wardrobe, and a clue. Then maybe we'll talk.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I would go see GA in a second to be honest, even though I only like those 2 songs they are a good fun act and the new album only makes me think this even more. I think they get alot of shit for being middlebrow and I'm not a big At The River fan or anything but I do also think it's important with house to be mercenary in terms of thinking how good a time I might have at something versus how much I listen to it at home etc, I mean it's 50 percent partying anyway, for me.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 21 February 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Face it - Lavigne is shite you pomo fucks

Doctor B, Friday, 21 February 2003 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan-as far as that Andy Cato=lame.............he mixed Born Slippy and Billie Jean together......also played Superstylin twice but hey we were all fucking screaming for it...otherwise....i didnt recognise any of the tunes....he was playing straight house with BIG basslines....oh Avril, yeah WhAtEvEr...as Bill Hicks said...that boat has passed me by

Michael B, Friday, 21 February 2003 03:18 (twenty-two years ago)

"Lovebox" is a great tune....even though he didnae play that. "At the river" fucking sucks obv.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 21 February 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i found it really hard to enjoy GA properly at Glasto last year despite the fact they were actually pretty good

download their track with Neneh Cherry 'Groove Is On' because its GREAT POP and pisses all over Avril for sexy attitood (i know i know we'd all pay to see that yawn)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 21 February 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I was so tired by the Sunday but they did drag me into dancing a bit. I too am sick of the Groove Armada hate, I bet Andy Cato is still playing 24 Hours by Agent Sumo, if you don't know that Michael it's worth a download. He played EVERYTHING twice in Tivoli last time.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 21 February 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh I know that one...I'm not too sure but I don't think he played that either

Michael B, Friday, 21 February 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

He must be the ugliest dj in the world.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Avril rules. I don't know Grove Armada.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 February 2003 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)
