I think they also do a 20th c Masters comp for every hair metal band ever.

the world has just collapsed in on itself

Of course, the ILM Massive might be more interested in this

Amazon.com has 242 matches for the 20th Century Master series. What, no Steve Forbert?

I would actually kinda like to hear the Semisonic one. I liked one of their singles quite a bit.

I might have to check this out.

I like "All About Chemistry" a good bit and wonder why it isn't discussed more. The only other stuff by them I've heard is "Closing Time," which I don't remember liking very much.

It should be noted, of course, that a good portion of the songs on that comp are actually 21st century masters.

All About Chemistry was the best album of 2001; Semisonic are wonderful. I love it how whenever I bring them up everyone just laughs and then slowly someone starts going "hey, but I actually did like one song of theirs..."

That someone would not be me.

I think the "masters" refers to the recording, not the artist

some of these are actually pretty terrific. the Public Enemy one isn't essential but does work, as Douglas has pointed out, as a great party record; the Eric B. & Rakim one is just about perfect, better than any of their albums (all of which I like a lot)
