Death Walks Behind You = hard rock classic, IMO. The frustrating thing about this band is that they just couldn't seem to hold together a line-up for any length of time, even by '70s hard rock standards, due to Vincent Crane being possibly even more of a dictator than Richie Blackmore was in Rainbow. The band that made the sublime 'Devil's Answer' and 'Tomorrow Night' singles (classic!) and Death Walks Behind You only lasted from August 1970 to June 1971!

picked up IN THE HEART OF ATOMIC ROOSTER yesterday based on the cover alone, looking it up now seems like it's less regarded than the first two records... into this enough to want to explore further...

"a spoonful of bromide helps the pulse rate go down" should be the theme-song for a planetarium proto-prog laser light show

Listening to both some Sabbath and Death Walks Behind You this morning got me thinking about how if the band configurations would have been different, how would it have sounded etc. Crane was obviously very talented and had a unique sound as a keyboard player, I don't think he ever could keep a band together to build up something. That said, it is not hard to see that Crane's sound would have been awesome as an addition to Black Sabbath MK I. This is speaking as a musical sense as Vincent Crane was supposed to have many problems, so that might have been pure gasoline on the fire in the drug den world of early Sabbath.
It was obvious that Iommi had keyboards on his mind as part of the sound, as he used them in the studio then live behind the curtain to making it a permanent part of the group once the original members moved on. I think stylistically sounding, Crane could have been perfect as that other texture in Sabbath's music. By relation, I think Crane finally having a killer group with perhaps Geezer's input as a lyricist and Oz, his music could have taken that next step into something new.
I think it is a pretty good hard rock fantasy baseball team lineup situation.

Shame taht Death Walks Behind You Band lineup wasn't kept as it was for a while. I think its pretty great but they had to bring in Chris farlowe and people. I think there's about an lp and a half of that Du Cann line up. Fropm that time at least, is it him who is back in the band i like 1980 when the band reform.
could do with some more guitar, kbds, drums trios if they're as good as the Du Cann line up or Lifetime.,

I like these guys a lot; their early albums got the boxed set treatment in 2017 and I wrote about them then.
