I've listened to the ARE record nonstop the past week and love it. Completely convincing high-school outsider rock, but with the angle of "geeks win after all." Really great. That said, the middle of the record sags a bit, so I take the Strokes, as Is This It has aged very well for me.

I was amazed by how camp ARE Weapons are... I mean, they look really butch in their photos but they sound like minceing queens. "New York Muscle! New York Muscle! Ooooh yeah baby, yeowwwwww!"

I like ARE Weapons because they aren't afraid to smell like men.

Will someone please explain the Strokes/Television comparison? I just don't hear it. By the way there's a rumor going around that the Strokes aren't really brothers.

A:R:E weapons two singles are great!
well The Strokes first (and second) single was also great but in the end ARE weapons is better cooler music interesting > more goodlooking?

"New York Muscle" is one of the worst songs ever! yet I've listened to it many times and still love A.R.E. Weapons. Strokes are better though.

New York Muscle is intentionally hilarious. ARE Weapons remind me of (but are nowhere near as good as) fab 80s Aussie post-punk group Box The Jesuit

are weapons, if only becuz of the totally killer Aylers Angels LPs when thd Strokes were covering "Evenflow" - plus, Street Gang is a good single. dontcha think? but yes ny muscle kinda weak...
