Just a really good band. They don't get enough mentions on ILM. Hence this post. I believe their bassist just quite the band, but I don't see that posing problems for the future.

"Always and Forever" is one of the best singles of the year. I'm not sure if I've heard the John Leckie version though. Anybody heard it?

I was quite into their first album after hearing "Snow" and a few other tracks, but have since completely forgotten about them, really. I picked up an ep of their wherein they cover Nick Drake's "Black Dog," but didn't bother picking up their second proper album. The gal bass player split? Pity, that.

they were in my school, one of them was in my brothers class, now you know that we can all rest easy.

Kilian's dad also taught me, I was a sub trifean maths student at best.

i didn't know Hilary had left.. but it should be pointed out that Hilary has a twin sister who is a model and goes out (or went out?) with Mark, so possibly (given that she was drafted into the band for that authentic Smashing Pumpkins cool detched female bass player look and taught to play bass as required) they will just replace Hilary with her and, i don't know, clone more twins in case of further quittings.

i did quite like JJ72 for their J17indierockstarness but without Hilary, Mark's ego and insufferable pretentions are only going to multiply and they're left with a gaping charisma deficiency problem that will be impossible to fill.

I caught them live once. It was fuckign awful - some black-clad adolescent screaching and banging a guitar. We went back to the pub to wait for the main band. I can't stand his voice for even a second, but I do a mean (in every sense) impression.

Kilian's dad also taught me! It is terrible living in a city with only one teacher.

I bought a JJ72 single once to see what all the fuss is about, and I thought it was boring.

Undercover Angel from the first album is fab. I like the debut LP - the new one has its moments. I'd give Hilary one.

one year passes...
REVIVE FOR NO REASON AT ALL

Were it not for iTunes/iPod, I'm dead sure I'd never have listened to this band by choice ever again. That said, "Snow" -- while quite needlessly histrionic -- is kinda good. Lots of crap on the debut album, though.

"WWWHHHHHHHYYYYYYYY WON'T IT SNOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW?"

I liked their cover of "It's a Sin" as well. Though their cover of "Black-Eyed Dog" was the Black Eyed Dog's dinner.
