I just saw the DVD of 'Brown Sugar' and I have some questions

1. Could Sanaa Lathan's character, who believes that "hip-hop should get back to its roots," actually ever become editor of XXL Magazine?

2. Could Taye Diggs' character work at a rap label for years and NOT know everyone else in the rap world?

3. How could these two rap fanatics fight over the two best female MCs being Lauryn Hill and Roxanne Shante? HONOUR THE LYTE, dammit! She's in the Badu video and everything...and Latifah's in the movie and she was better than LH or Roxanne too! Shit!

Anyone else see this movie? It loves hip-hop more than any movie ever, but it's a case of "not wisely but too well," no?

I think I'd rather watch a video of my own autopsy than sit through this piffle.

Is that out on DVD yet, Alex?

I've seen bootleg copies on Betamax, but the production quality is very iffy.

The 'deleted scenes' aren't essential, but I heard the commentary by Youth is crucial.

Yeah, but Youth was high as a kite at the time, so he gets a bit slurry and passes out during the cranial incision sequence.

"At the time?" HONOUR THE CRANIAL INCISION!
