THE REMEDY (I WON'T WORRY) by JASON MRAZ

I saw fireworks from the freeway and behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away / Cause you were born on the fourth of July, freedom ring / now something on the surface it stings / that something on the surface it kind of makes me nervous who says that you deserve this / and what kind of god would serve this? We will cure this dirty old disease / if you've got the poison I've got the remedy

the remedy is the experience / It is a dangerous liaison / I say the comedy is that it's serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words / I say the tragedy is how youre gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on / So shine the light on all of your friends because it all amounts to nothing in the end.

I wont worry my life away.
I wont worry my life away.

I heard two men talking on the radio in a cross fire kind of new reality show / Uncovering the ways to plan the next big attack / they were counting down the days to stab the brother in the be right back after this / the unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh death breath is sure to outlast his catastrophy / dance with me, because if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy

the remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison / I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words / I say the tragedy is how youre gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on / So shine the light on all of your friends because it all amounts to nothing in the end.

I wont worry my life away.
I wont worry my life away.

When I fall in love, I take my time / There's no need to hurry when I'm making up my mind / You can turn off the sun but I'm still gonna shine and I'll tell you why

Because

I wont worry my life away.
I wont worry my life away.

Is it emo?

Prude, Tuesday, 4 March 2003 04:36 (twenty-three years ago)

No matter how bad the lyrics are, the delivery and arrangement are indeed worse. I'm pretty sure that the author doesn't really know what "liason" means, and just saw the movie title and remembered how hot he thought Uma Thurman was when he was fourteen and decided to use the phrase.

And it's not emo unless emo has morphed into utterly bland and generic guitar pop.

I honestly haven't heard the song... I was just going by the lyrics.

Prude, Tuesday, 4 March 2003 04:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Wasn't meaning to be flip, Prude. It isn't emo at all, 'cept in content perhaps.

The delivery really brings the awfulness of the lyrics to an entirely new dimension. The guy's heroes are Dave Matthews and David Grey. And he asks on his website "what's not to like about Jewel?"

Oh, it's cool, Matt. Don't worry.

Prude, Tuesday, 4 March 2003 04:45 (twenty-three years ago)

"what's not to like about Jewel?"

ha, I was thinking it read like a collaboration between Jewel and x ... x maybe being John Mayer? Any dum American guy really.

Ha, ha, this is the song I've been singing around the house and stuff. My gal thinks it's pretty funny. The only lyrics I knew before today were "the remedy, the remedy" and I would just do a little jig to it, pause a few seconds and do it again.

the matrix wrote the chorus, otherwise it's about a friend of his who got cancer.

he wears a mesh trucker hat in the video.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

he wears this shit-eating grin all the time on the tv like he is constantly desiring a hug. on "i love the 70s" he confessed that "rainbow connection" set him to writing music which i daresay explains a lot.

btw for those of you who would like to be able to detect the smell of payola, it's sort of like garlic cloves doused in yogurt and left to fester on the kitchen counter for 72 hours.
