Leo Sayer. I'm curious.

I liked a lot of his songs on AM radio as a kid, and I read in some "rock" book that he "saved British pop" in the 70s (har har). But is there anyone other than me willing to stand up for this weird Pierrot-dressing falsetto-squealing homonculus?

His name is ryhming slang round my way for an all day drinking session.

And therefore classic 4ever.

He was like David Essex's ugly little brother. "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing", "Long Tall Glasses" and "One Man Band" are all great. So is "The Show Must Go On" or whatever it's called. But I have a thing irritating falsettoes and pop Pierrots. I could do without the mushy ballads, though.

There's one weird Dylanesque single he did called "I Can't Dance" (or "I Can Dance"!) (he sings both anyway!) that I really like.

'When I need you' is the song that was playing the first time I got my heart broken :(

"I Can Dance" = "Long Tall Glasses"

I suspect Tom is working off memory here because "Long Tall Glasses" is not at all Dylany, unless it's Dylan doing a small-town community theater production of The Music Man.

Which would, as you know, kick whole bargeloads of ass.

his "dancing" lacks feeling.
that song is actually ok, better than the ballady stuff he did. also, adam sandler could totally play him in THE SHOW MUST GO ON: The Leo Sayer Story.....

"No-one can sing the high stuff like Leo Sayer"

That's what Leo Sayer said.

To Jermaine Jackson.

Michael's brother.

"Heart (Stop Beating In Time)" was actually one of the best songs ever written by the Gibb brothers post 1970.

His name is ryhming slang round my way for an all day drinking session.

Also rhymes with "record player".
As some of my good Russian pals never tired of repeating, with glee, whenever Sayer's name came up, some thirty-odd years ago.
I used to have an LP of his once. Don't remember much of it.
