The battle of the songs-you-least-want-your-daughter-to-hear.

For male-chauvenism-as-good-ol'-plain-fun, I say "Hot in Herre", 'cause it actually makes my ass shake, as much as the lyrics bother me.

Hot In Herre, absolutely. Which lyrics bother you?

pete b. (pete b.), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 18:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Not so much a particular phrase, but I've had a problem with it in particular since one day...

I was at my friend Stephen's house. He was flipping through channels and the song came on. His daughter started singing along; she's 4. She ran out of the room, and we were like "what?". She came running back in the room totally buck-naked.

Actually, I can't quite put my finger on why I dislike the lyrics so much; it's a mix of not-liking-the-women-as-objects-ness of it and the amazement-at-how-juvenile it is. But that's just my opinion, and my opinions are 99% of the time totally retarded wrong.

Sounds to me like the child needs a whuppin'.

Both colossally stoopid in a hilarious way. As much as I've always had a soft spot for the Crue (probably due to a soft spot on my skull), you've gotta simply love the sublimely simple and jaw-droppingly direct chorus of Nelly's tune:

"It's getting hot in here -- so take off all your clothes"

With the otherwise unlikely female refrain of....

I am getting so hot, I'm gonna take my clothes off!

I love the fact that there's no mucking about with subtlety, innuendo or thinly veiled allusions. It's just SO DIRECT!

True dat Alex. I'm personally beginning to think I'm too much of a fan of subtlety, innuendo, or thinly veiled allusions; mebe I need to follow "Hot in Herre" into the light.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 21:16 (twenty-three years ago)

"Hot in Herre" because a) it's a great ripoff of James Brown's "Hot Pants" era and b) because you can substitute the B-52's "Why won't you dance with me, I'm not no limburger" for Nelly's chorus and it scans perfectly.

Neudonym, Tuesday, 4 March 2003 21:18 (twenty-three years ago)

"Hot In Herre" is way better. On the offensiveness level, I think Jay-Z is a hell of a lot worse. "Girls Girls Girls" isn't just sexist, it's got more stereotypes than North!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think I've heard either one all the way through. If I have I don't remember it.

I'm just going to cast my vote for "The Bad Touch" and leave it at that.

Silly Anthony, hair metal is for kids!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, I thought we were talking about Jay-Z's "Girls Girls Girls". Motley Crue's? Fuckin' whatever.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Motley Crue owns your ass. And Good Charlotte's. *flees*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 23:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 26 July 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

what's 66.195/6 mean?

And if you were born in 82 (like me, for instance,) wouldn't that make you 20 and not 16?
