On the plus side the cover of his famous album "Street Songs" has him being busted by the man for pimping his stable of hoes out.

On the minus side MC Hammer may have ruined the track "Superfreak" forever more.

You decide

he was in an episode of the A team - kinda says it all. now exactly what was that kidnap / sex / drug scandal he did?

I actually heard MC Hammer's version first, and hearing the original - with a proper melody and all - was a blessing.

Rick James is definitely among the better African American artists to have emerged during the latter 30 years.

Wow, It’s really good to see you again, baby, And I must admit you’re looking very, very, very nice these days, I guess life must be treating you well. Oh, me? Well, I’ve just been doin’ the same ol’ thing I’ve always been doin’. You know, I’ve got a new lady now and it’s a little different then it was when I was with you. You know, I think back to when we met, the way I use to be and the cold way I use to act, but more than that. I think of how you changed me with your love and sensitivity

Seriously though, there aren't enough numbers to count how many perfect moments there are in Fire and Desire.

Honestly, isn't this song just a series of unfolding perfect moments. Its amazing how much better it can make me feel just listening to it.

I only discovered "You And I" a few months ago. It was a massive club hit in the UK - reaching #2 on Record Mirror's DJ reaction disco chart, and staying there for 4 weeks, only beaten by "Boogie Oogie Oogie" - and yet it's never joined the canon of well-remembered disco-era classics. His subsequent behaviour has cast a long retrospective shadow.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Superfreak...in a completely non ironic way...
