Well, I'm not sure if this is the right place but I thought you folks might like to know that Simon Reynolds has selected FT/NYLPM/Skykicking as one of his highlights of 2000 in the new issue of The Wire. In his 'Words' entry, the aforementioned are right up there with 'Nothing'.

SR also celebrates Isolee - who they?

Dude!

Josh, Saturday, 30 December 2000 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sweet!

Sophie, Tuesday, 2 January 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm amazed: a "Dude, Where's My Car?" reference that made me laugh. Clearly, you all rock.

Not seen The Wire yet, but is Elidor mentioned? (Simon has mentioned in emails to me that he regards it as very much part of the axis he recommends).

He answers your e-mail? Gosh!

No, really, I'm actually quite star-struck about the whole affair.

Michael Daddino, Sunday, 7 January 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The 'Dude Where's My Car?' ref. was outstanding. My kudos to you both.

"Dude, Where's My Car?"

"You lost your car?"

"No, no, no....that's the name of the movie...."

Please shoot me before I start foaming at the mouth.

It's all Sophie's work. I just like saying "dude!".

Josh, Sunday, 7 January 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Robin - no, he doesn't explicitly mention Elidor but, judging by the links page on his website, you can rest assured that you were very much implied in the 'et al'. There's a typo in there too - 'blogs' is rendered as 'biogs'. Page 40, in case you want to get straight there in WHSmiths.

Not wanting to sound full of myself, but Simon R. first had a brief email conversation with me in July 1999, and more recently, at length, last month. The very fact that I regard talking with him as perfectly routine is an interesting indication of how far we've come in pop's democratisation.

Hey Isolee, something I don't know! After which I found this somewhere on the web

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

ISOLÉE Rest Playhouse Records The boys behind last years huge club hit Beau Mot Plage is back with a full length album of bleepy melodic weirdness. Rest is a mix of house, techno and electronica centered around the beats to get the dancefloor moving. Isolée - aka Rajko Müller has created a soundscape unlike anything else. Melodious, harmonious and varied, but a fickle self- assuredness, makes Isolée's music sound strange - still accessible, and yet truly original, with no musical references but to itself.

Rest is full of particular music spanning musical borders without effort since it does not really belong to any obvious musical category. It is beat-driven but it does not sound like the dance music we use to hear in a club - and yet it is without doubt dance music. Rest implicates a remnant, a plateau, a pause and relaxation - sublime music. Absolutely essential! ----------

just downloaded 'Beau mot plage' with Napster, it's pretty good minimal house, hard to describe, a bit more crispy than the whole Chain Reaction/Basic Channel axis.
