I don't mean their singing.

? I guess I'd need more information. They both are considered 'virtuosos' of their respective instruments, but their instruments were different, so it's pretty much apples and oranges.

Wasn't Emerson auditioned for the Hendrix trio? And he pulled back, cuz they were Wild Men? There's some link like this: Hendrix auditioning for the Nice, some point of contact. Of course it's not apples and oranges: three power trios, both with rubbish drummers and bass players and singers, both with free-form noiseboy pyrotechnician centre-of-attention fire- eating knife-throwing blues-loving wossnames. Hendrix = classic cuz he didn't live to record Works Vol.2 (which even *I* can't pretend to love, for provocation's sake...). And fair dos, Greg Lake really IS a worse singer than Hendrix.

mark - so who's a rock drummer you consider *good*, do you actually got any?

duane, Sunday, 1 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

('cause i don't wanna defend ELP - even tho i *could* probably [oooooh, yr a Lucky Man!] but Carl Palmer's pretty obv the LEAST WORST thing about 'em.)

Paul Thompson. Don Powell. John Maher. Jaki Liebeizeit. Jamie Muir. Charlie Watts

Bonham&Moon&Ringo [controversial third choice!?]

Paul Thompson : Roxy Music > Angelic Upstarts. From the sublime to the grotesque.

What about Steve Janssen?

tarden, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

wow is that true, paul thompson joined the angelic upstarts? that's not even as cool as joining uriah heep, is it. hey mark - yr drummers- favs-list is ALL-SUPERSTAR - except bonzo of course, ha ha whatta bum. BUT! if you think john maher is all that, OK he is, but, you think that + you also think mitch mitchell is sloppy, or overplays, (i know i know you didn't say specifically that but IF...) = INDICATION OF CRACK SMOKAGE.

duane, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No, no, no! Different kinds of drummer. Maher DRIVES. Mitchell (usually) holds back. Maher's whipcrack rolls PUNCTUATE, Mitchell's rolls are long, rambling, incomplete sentences.

Emerson is a twat.... and Jimi rules. Jimi is so far above Emerson, just in a different plane... no comparison.
