If you're truly content with having such spectacularly low standards, then why should you care if someone attacks you for it?

It's hip to be square.

Bah! I Find ' Happy to be Stuck With you " both moving and funky. You all don't understand me! I am too ahead of you time for you to see my irony!

Once upon a time, I thought that it was SO cool that "The Heart of Rock & Roll" name-checked Hartford! Until I realized that the News probably cut versions of the track for different states / regions. "Moodus! Lebanon! Madison! Old Saybrook!"

You picked one stinker of a song, though. If you're going to hang your hat on anything, it should be "If This Is It".

Saw Chris Berman (ESPN anchor, he of the purple suits and the played out nicknames) singing with Huey on stage (via the telly). A scary, scary sight. 2nd in scariness to seeing Huey's news exposed in _Short Cuts_.

This just confirms it - Mike Hanley is Patrick Bateman. I will never go over his house, that's for sure.

Ally is incourrigible, like porridge. Porridge -head Ally! I also rather fancy Mister Lewis' bum.

I like what I've heard. But what I want to know is, why is Mike Hanley called 'Mike Hanle y'?

the pinefox, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Y is my last name. Hanle is my Middle Name. "THe Power of love is a curious thing"

Mike Hanle y, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

There is a new Huey Lewis album on the way. Oh joy.

The soulful croon of Heuy...oh , I feel moist.

Mike Hanle y, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Not that it matters, but it's H-U-E-Y, not H-E-U-Y. Hurrumph! And you call yourself a fan!

alex in nyc, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Along with Phil Collins and Bon Jovi, Huey had more influence on my life than any other. My hatred for his bland, whitebread pablum lead me straight to Black Flag and The Wipers, and after that life got easier. Fuck Huey Lewis (but oddly enough, I quite liked him in Altman's 'Shortcuts'.).

Andy, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

He prefers my spelling.

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 3 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Search : "If This Is It", "I Want A New Drug", "The Heart of Rock'n'Roll". Good harmless pop.

I am shocked, shocked, that no one has mentioned "Heart & Soul", the only HL song I like. It sounds almost new wave. Plus I can play it on guitar. So attacking you Mike, would be like attacking him. And by "him" and mean me.

Tracer, through Huey Lewis, we have found a great global brother hood. Let the love live.

_Sport_ is a very fun album. Much of the rest is useful primarily for sacring small children. Can the world forgive "It's Hip To Be Square"? Only time wil tell...

TH world has already"forgiven". I see a bright future for Heuy and Mr.T.

three years pass...
There is a room in hell. Where Huey Lewis & The News are playing,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Fuck Huey Lewis (but oddly enough, I quite liked him in Altman's 'Shortcuts'.).

perhaps it was the "size" of his "sunday edition" of his "news" that won you over... huh? huh?

Well done, Hanle y.
