Oh Mr. Diamond!

I completely forgot about Stranded "...stranded like a minute stranded in an hour, stranded like a damsel, locked up in a tower...stranded!" It was one of my favorites in HIGH (I'm talking really high) SCHOOL as was Homocidal Suicidal... "big time boozer... big time loser..." was that how it went?

Ha...ha...

They really should have worked with Roger Bain throughout their whole career...

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 30 March 2003 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I think they started losing it with Bandolier (it had some good songs but wasn't a strong album IMHO) and went off the deep end with Impeckable (extremely weak and courting with pitiful). After that I only had sporadic interest in them.

Damn, I'm listening to "Stranded" right now and it rocks so fucking hard! The drum pattern is awesome; he hits the snare on the two and the three, and the last upbeat at the end of the bar. The bass is mixed so loud! God I love this shit.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 30 March 2003 03:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Bandolier is the latest one I have. My buddy bought the BBC thing and said it was really good, but I haven't heard it...

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 30 March 2003 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

too bad the only Budgie I have now is a BEST OF comp that only has 10 tracks... I haven't seen my Budgie LPs in years... I believe my sister has them at our old house. The next time I am back east I'll have to remind myself to pick 'em up (and maybe purchase a turntable to play 'em on!)

hey mr d you listed a DUST song! "from a dry camel" isn't by budgie! quite budgie-esque title tho i guess yeah.

duane (doorag), Tuesday, 29 April 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

is "crash course" on the 1st album in america? not here, bummer. i could use a copy of the american version of the 1st lp in that case, i never heard the early version of that song.

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Tuesday, 29 April 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

and you listed 'man from manhattan' by sir lord baltimore & uh who's "july morning" by, oh ok i get it you knew this i guess

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Tuesday, 29 April 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha... yeah Duane that was just a joke - the last three songs I listed were not by Budgie. I just couldn't think of the Budgie titles off the top of my head and I was too lazy to go and pull out my albums.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 29 April 2003 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I only know CRASH COURSE from "In for the Kill."
The first Budgie album I am familiar with is the one with the Budgie warrior riding a horse. The illustration is not by Roger Dean. I don't remember a version of Crash Course on it.

Baby Please Don't Go and Zoom Club were always on my turntable during my "red dragon" period in high school.

oh yeah... the first Budgie album with the Budgie warior is not to be mistaken by the Budgie warrior from the Bandolier album. On the first album (at least what I htink is the first one) the horse seems to be flying though it doesn't possess any wings.

yeah those album covers are the ult., i was just showing them to this friend of mine who came round before & we were cracking up over them....the "Bandolier" one is esp. ridiculous.....they got some real roger dean ones but that one appears to be a super inept in-the-style-of-roger-dean thing outta some kid's hi school art portfolio.
