The Call I'm Trying To Make

WGCI is running an april fools prank where they switch from R&B/Rap to a Rock format coz of corporate pressure and they're a bit preachy like pressing themselves as the voice of the black community being silenced, etc. But still funny stuff. So anyway the lines are all tied up but I've been trying to call in for ages. What I'd say:

"I'm calling in to give my support for representing the rock community, which is totally underrepresented. It's about time people started to play real music on the radio. I hear the good rev. jackson has been calling and opposing this change of format. It's a shame he's pursuing this issue instead of directing his energies at his core issues -- this is taking his time away from important things like censoring Barbershop. So yeah, my props and support. One last question, cause I just wanted to make sure. You guys are still going to play Common, right?"

They've been playing Avril and "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and Creed all morning. They just played the B-52s. This is GREAT.

So you're saying it's an improvement. ;-)

"Y'know, the rev. has a full-time job on his hands fighting the good fight to keep movies free of offensive and harmful references to, y'know, himself, and all."

"Also, does this mean you'll start to rock some Def Jux?"

They played Journey and that was fun but now they're playing U2. This has gone TOO FAR.

Ugh. I agree.

Who listens to the radio anymore?

WGCI has done similar April's Fools pranks to this before. I think they're hilarious.

"an april fools prank where they switch from R&B/Rap to a Rock format coz of corporate pressure "

see, that's not funny to me because that's exactly what happened to one of my favorite stations in Baltimore like 3 weeks ago. the owners decided they didn't want a rap station, even though the profit margins were high, so they fired everyone without warning and changed formats overnight.

they weren't being funny enough about it too, like i said it had this nutty preachy vibe.
