The Samples - Classic or Dud?

You know, that Colorado sort of hippy band. They make me think of days past (college) a spring weekend at my wifes college, drunken, stumbling good times. Some good songs, some really bad. Classic for me.

Dud....Saw them at since closed Wetlands Preserve in the very early 90's. Lead singer bore an uncanny vocal simillarity to Sting, yet band managed to lack all semblance of energy and bite. Not my thing, sorry.

There are a couple of decent songs buried in there, but they're hardly worth it.

Right teeny, im not saying they are great. Some good songs, more for the memories that those good songs invoke is what makes them classic to me.

girl from my hometown who went to the college I did, driving us both home, 5 hours, for the holidays: So do you like music?
me: uh, yeah.
girl etc: oh, cool! like what?
me: uh, I dunno, lotsa stuff. Punk, uh, sixties stuff I guess. David Bowie. Little of everything.
girl etc: Do you like the Samples?
me: ... [thinking for a shred of a second that she might mean "sampling" but knowing that this could not possibly be true]
girl etc: They're so awesome.
me: [ohfuckohfuckohfuck] I guess I don't really know them.

Long drive. Dud.
