hey - just reviewed the new Sun0)) - fucking killer. Better than the last, even. Julian Cope plays on it!!

Does anyone know what Joe Preston is up to recording-wise? Dude is due - I googled but couldn't find anything...

I'm very jealous of you lot even though I'm seeing two of 'em at ATP in a couple o'days... Can't recommend the new Boris rekkid enough, for anyone who likes the idea of choking Electric Wizard-stylee doom colliding with kind of quasi-AMT Jap psych done completely WRONG and therefore COMPLETELY RIGHT.

My friend Frances will be going! She's been raving about Boris. But Handsome Soundartist is doing an installation opening thing at the Brunswick Centre tonight, so I'm going to be supporting the home team. And maybe venturing over to Capitol K at the Arse Cafe if the HSA finishes early enough.

kate, Thursday, 3 April 2003 07:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

Is there really an Arse Cafe?

Please, please tell me there is!

mei (mei), Thursday, 3 April 2003 08:57 (twenty-one years ago) link

Heh heh, no it is actually the Toynbee Hall Arts Cafe. It is known as the Arse Cafe due to the spectacular posterior of the Adorable Soundman at the venue. Heh heh.

(Oh now, does the existence of a Thing with Handsome Soundartist mean that I can no longer speculate on the wonderment of the posterial arse-endowment of the Adorable Soundman any more?)

Russell Haswell is ACE.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 3 April 2003 11:45 (twenty-one years ago) link

how are your ears zemko?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 4 April 2003 07:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

boris was the best thing (the guitarist is my no1 dirty dronerocK chiXor now, with the girl who sings for bardo pond (and who shakes her ass a lot) now at no.2).

thrones: what if yr heavily tatooed, heavy meatl lovin', air guitar playing dad playing not guitar but bass instead and screamed a lot and smashed glasses on his head mid-set (and played the rest of the gig with bits of it sticking out of his head)?

glad to see it but prob would hate it if i bought this. good fun tho'.

sun0))): or Dr C's nightmare gig, me thinks. the funniest shit i've ever seen.

two blokes (dressed in occult priests' robes) (couldn't see their faces, nor would they turn their heads to the crowd), turn yr amps on, put the guitar next to it, hit the odd string (do theatrical hand signals in between), do this for 40 + minutes (add in the guy who got stoned and was banging his head in a hevy meatl stylee and jerking his body all over the place): magic!!!

Hahahahaha...saw them at SxSW & there they wore matching His & His padded camouflage suits & did the exact same thing (think there was a lone headbanger too, maybe he follows them around).

Wandering Boy Poet, Friday, 4 April 2003 08:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

six years pass...

No Thrones thread. Saw em last night and it was (as can be mostly counted on) awesome. Dude's a treasure.
