this isn't even a contest. Jett always. Goddamn Pat Nebatar.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

what do you think of Fox vs Ford?

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I've only heard a song or two of either on VH1 Classic. I'm gonna pick Fox cuz she sounds more consistently absurd.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Jett, both on the record and off.

On the undercard, Ford, cause she plays guitar.

I've been hooked on "Kiss Me Deadly" for the past few weeks.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Thursday, 3 April 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Joan Jett vs Pat Benatar -- Joan Jett.
"Cherry Bomb" (the JJ & the Blackhearts version) alone pushes Joan Jett over the edge.

Samantha Fox vs Lita Ford -- Lita Ford.
How can you compare Lita to a Page Three Girl? (Also, how weird was it that Fox co-hosted a Brits with MICK FLEETWOOD, of all people?)

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 3 April 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Kiss Me Deadly is correct Kenny...

jm (jtm), Thursday, 3 April 2003 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Har har har, on my first date with Handsome Soundartist, we were sitting in the Foundry and someone put Pat Benatar's Love Is A Battlefield on. What was more embarrassing - the fact that he was really getting into it, or that *I* knew immediately who it was?

But duh. Joan Jett. PB not even in the same league.

Joan Jett Duh! (but only when she had hair...)

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Thursday, 3 April 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

dave q, Thursday, 3 April 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw Joan Jett live last year. She was fucking awesome. Her backup band were lame posers, but her voice sounded great. So Joan Jett.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 3 April 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

JJ and PB = too different to compare, really, aside from the fact that they made "hard rock" in the "eighties." PB's a great singer; JJ's a great looker. JJ's covered "Pretty Vacant"; PB's covered "Wuthering Heights." PB = associated with the surface-skimming past-mining of dumb college girls. JJ = associated with those hipster shitheads at Don Hill's who go around telling people the MC5 were the greatest band ever, never mind that they only had maybe two or three good songs and a cool manager and a cool logo and THAT'S IT.

Pat Benatar.

Fox over Ford, too.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 3 April 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"THATS IT"........Thats MORE than enough Jody!

joduane (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 3 April 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a lot of time for Benatar. Loads of good LP tracks, besides the 45s.

the pinefox, Thursday, 3 April 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Joan Jett is much cooler, obviously, and I never feel any urge to listen to her records, whereas Pat made the luminous (albeit heavily of-its-period) _Seven the Hard Way_ and a bunch of other records I would listen to again of my own independent volition.

The Ford/Fox thing is just silly. Ford by a mile.

But if we're trying to consolidate, I might take Fiona over all four.

ara, Thursday, 3 April 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Gotta be Joan Jett, though I do like scattered Pat Benetar tracks - particularly "We Live For Love."

mike a (mike a), Thursday, 3 April 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Fucking close call. I love 'em both to death, but... I dunno. Wendy O. Williams would snap those thin little bitches in half with a look, though.

maria b (maria b), Thursday, 3 April 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Joan Jett wins, over everyone, ever.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 3 April 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

can i pick suzi quatro?

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 3 April 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Jett's overrated.

J (Jay), Thursday, 3 April 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Aside from being amazing, both in The Runaways, and solo, Joan Jett produced the first Germs album. WWJJD?
