Who's contrarian enough to defend the Stamos-era BBs? Not me, that's for damn sure.

"kokomo" is the worst sub-parrothead umbrella-drink doggerel ever unleashed on the top 40.

Easily the Stamos era. John Stamos could not write a tune like Brian Wilson. But Stamos had such verve and panache that he automatically makes any band he's in the coolest cats in town.

Jesse and the Rippers were the best fictitous band ever.

"Michelle's Smiling" is a heartwarming masterpiece.

I like to imagine that the song is about noted tropical paradise Kokomo, Indiana.

Not only does he nail Rebecca, but he puts the bitch to work! If you can pimp an ex-supermodel, pimp her.

John Stamos has been the drummer for the American Beatles for the last decade and a half. Still cruising after all these years!

Uncle Jesse, Thursday, 3 April 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, "Kokomo" is much better than most of the material just before and after. There's good ol' fashioned nightmare fuel for ya.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 April 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

It's true: "Kokomo" is better than the entirety of _Looking Back With Love_.

mike a (mike a), Thursday, 3 April 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember seeing the Beach Boys play in the mid-eighties (circa 'Getcha Back', pre-'Kokomo') and Mike Love announced from the stage they had a new single coming out with Little Richard and I remember thinking 'ohmigod - that thing's gonna be great! how could it go wrong?'. never have heard the single, have my doubts.

ELO vs. ELO 2
The Searchers vs. Mike Pender's Searchers
Jefferson Airplane vs. Starship

.....

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 4 April 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

if ELO 2 is the eighties ELO, then ELO2 has much to reccomend it

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 4 April 2003 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

ELO2 aren't that bad!!!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 4 April 2003 00:21 (twenty-two years ago)

"Calling America"s classic!

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 4 April 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"Calling America" was not by ELO 2. It was the biggest hit single from the last ELO album. ELO 2 was a Lynne-less version of the band led by Eric Troyer in the early 90s, and they had no hits.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 4 April 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yikes

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 4 April 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha it wasn't that bad though!!
