The A side is alright, but side B is blowing my mind. This record has been sitting in my collection for about a year and I have not given it much attention. I broke it out a couple days ago and I have probably played it about 10 times. I already have the ACR Early comp and To Each...

So where do I look next, I need more b-side early 80's funk dubs. Hyper-minimal bass and drum works outs with dub echo and copius amounts of reverb. I am not necessarily looking for more ACR material but just weird b-side dubs in general. The kind of stuff Metro Area is ripping off right now. Thanks in advance.

23 skidoo - the b.side to the language 12" = language dub...but not the percussion version on urban gamelan. my favourite 23 skidoo moment (and thats saying something)

is this the Language 12" with the b/w photocopied hands on the cover? i'm listening to it right now. very, very strange. almost if a.sherwood had his way w/the source material, but w/o making it dub reggae feeling at all. more like tons of sound effects, parts drop in and out, reverse loops.

but it's not actually called "Language dub". is there another?

mine doesn't look photocopied...but sounds like the same thing. i haven't it at hand...maybe its not called language dub after all?

the This Heat song "24 track loop", already one of the most perfect songs in existence, is played out for about 20 minutes or so on the _Repeat_ cd. amazing use of tape loops, clapping, funky rhythm, organ, echo, bliss.

and speaking of Adrian Sherwood, i have a 3cd On U Sound box (collects the Dread Operator, A party of Dubbers and Toasters, & In Dub Daze compilations). especially in the last cd, there are a bunch of tracks by Playgroup that sound more like dubbed out post punk funk than reggae. i particularly like it.

The 23 Skidoo compilation 'The Gospel Comes to New Guinea' is essential.
