Has anyone listened to The Goats' Tricks of The Shade lately?

One of my all-time favourite hip hop albums in the world ever, this. Have found myself listening to it a lot lately after unearthing it about 6 months ago, having not heard it in about 5 or 6 years. I know all things musical have a habit of turning full-circle but it's amazing (and incredibly depressing) to me that this record made over a decade ago can be so incredibly relevant today - just check Typical American and the Georgie Bush Kids skit...

I haven't heard it in years, but I have "Rumblefish" on a mix-CD, and that track kills me every time. I used to own this album, but haven't seen it in a rekkid store in many many moons. Thanks fer reminding me about it, though; I hope I can order it from somewhere...

*wait, just remembered that "Rumblefish" is actually from No Goats No Glory, which never quite hit me like Tricks of the Shade*

yeah, No Goats No Glory suxors. Tricks, though--talk about an overlooked classic. I'd love to get my hands on a copy again, used to have it on cassette and have never seen it for sale on CD except for a radio promo w/like 8 songs.

man, I haven't heard this in years. Fond memories of it, dunno if it would bear up under recent scrutiny. I know I have it on cassette somewhere - definitely better than the 2nd one, altho I liked a couple tracks off of No Goats No Glory. Oh man, what was the song on the first one about smoking and drinking and taking acid....? That's My Bizness or something like that...?

It's a total peach of a record but the main thing is what they're actually talking about on the record... it's just eerie... but the tunes still rock my world, too - Matos mail me off list i may just be able to help you out!!!

It doesn't age well. I remember loving it too but recently (as in this year) busted out Typical American and found it kinda weak. Oatie was good but that other MC was awful, and the song overall just didn't do it for me.

Roger may have a point. I haven't heard this in almost a decade, would be interesting to see how it stacks up now. I'll email you Dave!
