This is the thread for pointing out to Allmusic.com any glaring ommissions. Such as...

Hank Flloyd and the Swerving Headlights
R. Stevie Moore
The Rudy Schwartz Project
Doktors for Bob/The Swinging Love Corpses
Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie

Now it's your turn.

I don't think it's possible to cover everything unless AMG had a Microsoft sized budget and staff. Big deal.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 4 April 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a good example of then write them yourself.

Amateurist (amateurist), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

There are actually a few things that aren't on AMG that I'd feel confident in doing. Whom should I contact? Ned? Andy?

JS Williams (js williams), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Shit where do I start...without wanting to sound too snobbish, I think 80% the bands in my CD collection have no entry in AMG. But most of them are in the Rockdetector database, so perhaps a takeover/merger might be needed...

BTW I love how AMG managed to come up with the style "scandinavian metal". I'm eagerly awaiting the "balkan funk", "benelux rock" and "iberian techno" categories.

Siegbran (eofor), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Peruvian Bluegrass

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

...Leningrad Dixieland
(did once exist, sorta)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Nicole: I don't think it's possible to cover everything unless AMG had a Microsoft sized budget and staff. Big deal.
If there ever was a site that could boast that it has EVERYTHING, AMG is the closest. They've got 98% of all acts in every genre I can think of, I'm just pointing out some of whats in the last 2%.
Amatuerist: This is a good example of then write them yourself.
Sorry, I don't work at AMG. I suspect that my entries would be dropped into the trashcan the moment they arrived.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 4 April 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! They don't have ME! Or any of my (counts fingers, quickly) seven singles, two mini-albums or actual full-length CD. So FUCK THEM!

Thinking about it, that might be eight singles. How would I know? AMG can't help me...

Jerry (Jerry), Friday, 4 April 2003 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and yes that album IS publicly available (as are two of the singles, and several tracks on compilations)

Jerry (Jerry), Friday, 4 April 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

(Jerry T jus' a frustrated muso non-shokkah)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 4 April 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Send all your uncatalogued albums to:

Ned Raggett
c/o guy he works for at AMG
6669 Spinout Clambake Speedway
Port Spankmonkey, Ohio, 20016

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 4 April 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

No, just send them to me directly. In fact everyone should send everything they've ever released to me directly. Then I will have everything at long last. :-)

My dear ET -- and BTW, please respond to my CTCL-related mail! -- if you want yer stuff reviewed, just ask. ;-)

Meanwhile, this is why Siegbran needs to let me have his collection. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 4 April 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey! I was about to do this one myself!

63 Eyes (although Todd Burge is in as a solo performer)
Boy Dirt Car (a glaring oversight)
Bored Cops (although the lack of information on them would be a problem)
Dandelion Abortions (one of Paul Mahern's post-Zero Boys bands)
Bratwurst Orange (I wasn't expecting this one)
Mouth Bandits (Nor this one)

...and that's just the *good* bands.

Oh, and I've run into R. Stevie Moore's entry a couple of times on AMG.

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo (cindigo), Friday, 4 April 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, Ozzfish Experience have a link from Screeching Weasel's entry, but they don't actually have an entry of their own.

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo (cindigo), Friday, 4 April 2003 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

The band that has little mention at AMG and bugs me is the group Pencil. I lived in Bloomington while they were a band and even though their albums didn't quite capture the pinnacle of what they sounded like, they were much better than the reviewer, who casts them as complete slag, which was not the case at all.

earlnash, Friday, 4 April 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, he's probably reading this as you speak. :-)

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo (cindigo), Friday, 4 April 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Vitalic!!

MC Pitman!!

Evan (Evan), Saturday, 5 April 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

This is like the "Appendix" running through the back pages of "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe."

Sam J. (samjeff), Saturday, 5 April 2003 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, this is where we discover that Towa Tei can lift (press) 40 tons under optimal conditions.

Christine Leafy Dragon has spotted an error in my first post:
"Oh, and I've run into R. Stevie Moore's entry a couple of times on AMG."
She is right. I stand corrected. Apparently the "." after R is important.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Saturday, 5 April 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

People who contact us with any form of information are always appreciated -- whether it's with a correction on a birth date or a complete discography. Since adding older, inactive, or obscure artists is not our top priority, it'd take some time for these things to be dealt with. (I'm positive that each AMG employee could contribute her/his own extensive list of un-covered artists -- I know I could spend weeks doing exactly that. It's just that a whole slew of things take precedence over it.) Keeping up with all things in-print is a mighty task on its own. Combine that with the fact that a good percentage of the feedback we receive has little in the way of useful information.

Jerry: Sorry 'bout the hole with your discography. We do have an actual entry for you, but OOP UK pop from the '80s and early '90s is obviously a big blind spot we have.

Andy K (Andy K), Saturday, 5 April 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

...and in-print imports is another, but those aren't as problematic as the OOP titles.
