Bramwell Tovey - Requiem for a Charred Skull

Anyone know this piece for choir, percussion, and brass? I woke up to it on the radio this morning. He achieves some textures that have a distant ghostly quality. It seems to be a Juno nominee for best classical composition this year.

Really? Bramwell used to be the conductor of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. I always thought he was a jazzer at heart...

Yeah, he is more famed as a conductor but he has composed a bunch of things too. This piece has been compared to (recent) Ligeti and Penderecki. Was apparently inspired by some events in Kosovo.

The WSO has certainly become more dull since he left. He was wont to have them perform a lot less "pops" stuff and was a driving force behind our New Music Festival.
