then there was a charalambides LP, the campbell kneale/neil campbell split 7", the weird and totally out-of-nowhere fucked up noise of dreamstalker's 7". most lathe cuts tend towards the noisy/drone side of things anyway.

I am _this_ close to getting a home record cutting machine. SO EXCITED! It only has a steel needle, but that's good enough to cut records out of picnic plates. First thing I'm going to do is buy a couple packs of those and churn out a 100 or so flexi discs to give away for free.
Does anyone on here have a record lathe?

this gang had to source a bloke in NZ i believe to get their shaped singles cut.
i managed to get a full set.
never played them, as i picked up the cd edition that compiled all the tracks.

the overwhelming bulk of them out there are done by said "bloke in NZ" though there's no doubt other people doing them theseadays
they don't all sound like shit at all despite what i said above. they are p quiet though.

I've got a Bitter Fictions one on clear polycarb. It was the first I'd heard of lathe-cut records and now I'm obsessed. Want a Rek-O-Kut machine for my basement, but not sure I have the commitment necessary to fix & maintain something like that.

I think Fred Cole cuts his own lacquers, but they press their records normally?

"bloke in NZ" = Peter King, no?
Picked up a few recently, the guys at Third Uncle records have put out a few releases, & they play way better than the old ones I have (most of which, yes, probably originated in NZ).

i had no idea this bloke in NZ was known in the lathe scene.

an australian label fellaheen released a whole bunch when i worked in a record store. sold a bunch of the beastie boys alio y oglio lathe cut and i never had so many copies of one release returned to the store due to the 'scratchiness' of it's sound. now that release sells for hundred of dollars due to it's limited nature. stupid kids.
I have this, never knew it was a lathe! looks like it books for around $50, btw.

Have a couple Wolf Eyes & Eyes-related lathes I bought at shows. Unplayable art objects cut into pools of hardened latex or like Tupperware lids. "Kind of cool to have."
