It's fully ten years since the week or two when a flatmate played me various Macc Lads tracks, mainly from Beer And Sex And Chips And Gravy, but also from subsequent albums.
I was struck recently by how well not only the lyrics, but also the pretty-tight-as-I-recall-them riffs and beats had stuck in my mind. Whoever was singing had a pretty memorable voice and intonation, too. Like acting-singing.
I guess the changes of the last ten years (first they started appearing in music shops which previously hadn't stocked them, then the innurnet) changed the occult experience of listening to a Macc Lads tape, but that's another thread.
The post is because Dan's Underpants came to mind when I wanted to use the expression "they're not fucking mine" the other day (not of underpants). I remembered thinking that the Lads had let themselves down with this witless, gross-out closer. But maybe the Band-Aid answer-song 'Feed your face' was worse?
