album covers that would make good posters

A few years ago, Select magazine gave away reprints of about 15 album sleeve covers. Sadly I didn't pick these up but last year I visited a house where the owner had stuck them up on a wall in a collage effect. I want to recreate this effect but for the life of me can't think of some really good covers to put up there.

So far I have:
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Barafundle
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Lee Perry - Super Ape
Plaid - Restproof Clockwork
Jimmy Cliff - the Harder They Come

"Tales From Topographic Oceans" is the one and only winner here...

I'll go with that Ride one especially -- it would make a wonderful wallpaper, frankly.

Yeah, `tis a beaut. Another one from that same era that I always covetted as a huge wallposter (British subway promo style) was the cover of Strange Free World by the Kitchens of Distinction.

Ah, heaven or las vegas is a beaut (great record, too), as were most 4AD covers, come to that...

That massive attack one would make an AMAZING poster!

And I once heard Dio talking about that cover, saying something like, "It's up to the viewer to decide who's winning. Could be the devil because he's wielding a chain or it could be the priest since the chain is broken!" But it seems pretty clear that the priest IS NOT winning that battle. (screaming in terror is never a good sign in a fight)

These two would have to be hung side by side....yeah, like dichotomy and juxtaposition, maaaaaan!

As for that Japan cover, not only the music within but also the cover would benefit for a new edition of that CD. First generation CDs have terrible design, and the sound isn't very impressive either.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 6 April 2003 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

frue, Geir, but i've got an excellent poster from some tat show with a b&w vsersoin. and the legend "MUSIC FOR ADULTS ONLY".
