this is the thread where you suggest future curators of ATP

It should be a band or a musical artist who would pick a broad range of acts to play, not just people who sound like them.

I suggest: SUPER FURRY ANIMALS

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

boredoms please

snake assasin, Monday, 7 April 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

blazin' squad.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

incidentally, why is there no category for Festivals?

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, I forgot you use e-mail notifications.

scott walker?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

john peel

stevem (blueski), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

they should let ME DO IT

chaki (chaki), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

second for chaki!

hstencil, Monday, 7 April 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Hasn't Scott Walker done one, or was that another festival? Imagine if they got Xgau or G. Marcus to do one. Not that I'm suggesting it.

I think they should get Crispin Glover.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Scott Walker did Meltdown in London what like 2 or 3 years ago? Wish I could've gone.

I'd like to see Wire (the band, not the magazine) curate one.

hstencil, Monday, 7 April 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Peter Buck might actually be very good since he's a vinyl fiend.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 7 April 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Björk!

We'd get public enemy again.

And Metal.

And digital gardcore.

And string quartets.

And Ari Up

And isn't that enough???

mei (mei), Monday, 7 April 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Geir Hongro would be interesting ("Melody is the New Crack!" shouts Spin magazine), as would Calum (it would be the "No Fat Chicks edition I presume)

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Monday, 7 April 2003 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

George Clinton would be a good call. Or Prince, except he'd be all up on Joni Mitchell's answering machine and she's so hardcore now she'd never call him back.

Neudonym, Monday, 7 April 2003 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Devo would be good, considering their failure to play for Autechre.

failing that: The Residents or Kraftwerk would be interesting.

If John Fahey were still alive...

Cub, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 07:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Radiohead seem to have pretty decent and wide-ranging taste in music. I'd love to see a Zorn festival though. God, so much of his music is such a blatant display of his electicism/record collection, he probably lays awake at night fantasizing about it.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 07:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Andrew Weatherall would be a good curator.

Stephen Burrows (steveeeeeeeee), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 07:51 (twenty-two years ago)

More Fire Crew! can you see the pasty Wire subscribers fleeing in terror?

Dave M. (rotten03), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom Waits should definitely do Meltdown.

Jim Jarmusch!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

They should pick the curator by national lottery. Imagine an AGP put together by Mavis Hughes, 65, of Dunstable.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Former Live and Kicking video games reviewer Adam Ey. If he's not available, get Rick Adams.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Matthew Herbert! All the way, as a serious suggestion. You'd get everything from glitch to colliery brass bands....

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Pinefox, Jess H, and Geir. all at once.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Jim O'Rourke
Wesley Willis
Avril
Harmony Korine

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Julian Cope
John Lydon
Steven Stapleton

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Albert Belle

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm down with Herbert as a serious suggestion (More Fire Crew only in my very happiest dreams, sadly), but hows about Timbaland - I reckon you'd get some real surprises there and it's just more feasible than some young UKG crew. In reality though, I detest the idea of ATP, just because it's all so terribly tasteful, it does my head in...

Dave Stelfox, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Thomas Bangalter.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, given that the Bowlie Weekender both laid down the template for ATP and was way better than every ATP year, they should get B&S to do it.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Fischer (provided The Locust are unavailable for the weekend.)

Ian Johnson (orion), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

N.E.R.D.

Nik (Nik), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i was gonna say super furry animals
i dunno about timbaland,i think he is one of these people who is a genius musician despite his taste-i read an interview with him in which he was talking about how much he loves metallica and sheryl crow...

Jon Williams (ex machina), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

it's a real shame that it's "the director's" cut next year cos i was hoping autechre were going to pass the baton to the discobiscuit fkwits that kept me up all night and maybe they might choose to have big screen tv football and norman frickin cook next year

bob snoom, Wednesday, 9 April 2003 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)
