This quote is inspiring:
Taryn is a multi-talented person," DreamWorks marketing manager Jed Simon says. "Not only is she a state champion kickboxer, dancer, and actress, but she is also an amazing singer/songwriter. Out strategy was to leverage Taryn's notoriety to get people to listen to the music.

and does Taryn say "Do you like my tight sweater?" to her own brother in some kind of Jack/Meg mashup?

Boomkat is promising but a bit scattershot and obvious at times. At least UMVD had the decency to price it low, which is nice for a debut.

The Norman Records sale is on for the next hour. It's a bit of a slog but there are albums by Cavil, Gnac, Mark Tranmer, James Yorkston, British Sea Power, Iron Henry, Pop Ambient 2011, Porn Sword Tobacco, Hauschka, King Creosote ... around the £2-£3 mark.

Reasonable sale on at Bleep, at the moment.

Strangely, I've only just noticed this thread wasn't about Boomkat the record shop ... ah well.

ah man that's hilarious

assuming this thread doubles as one for the distro / shop
wish there was a way to opt out of promo emails about cassettes. I enjoy receiving boomkat's updates but I feel like half of the emails I'm getting from them lately are about cassettes in editions of fewer than 100 copies. Even if I did collect cassettes, I'm in the US and there is no way I'm paying $30+ with shipping for a cassette, pro-dubbed or otherwise. I still can't even bring myself to buy the new "Hyperdub exclusive" Burial / Kode9 12" because I can't rationalize paying $35 for a 14-minute record, let alone a Jake Muir mix on cassette
