Has anyone heard this? Some kind of brother/sister duo, in which the sister is actress Taryn Manning.

This quote is inspiring:

Taryn is a multi-talented person," DreamWorks marketing manager Jed Simon says. "Not only is she a state champion kickboxer, dancer, and actress, but she is also an amazing singer/songwriter. Out strategy was to leverage Taryn's notoriety to get people to listen to the music.

They are the American Moloko.

but are the GOOD American Moloko or the BAD American Moloko?

and does Taryn say "Do you like my tight sweater?" to her own brother in some kind of Jack/Meg mashup?

Neudonym, Monday, 7 April 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Saying whether they're good or bad is entirely dependant on how you feel about Moloko.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 7 April 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Not to dis, but they're the bad American Moloko...

Boomkat is promising but a bit scattershot and obvious at times. At least UMVD had the decency to price it low, which is nice for a debut.

Yes. And all because you didn't believe hard enough. But if we all close our eyes, clap our hands and chant "this release is essential," who knows what may happen!

Pretty neat how pages like opalmusic.com and pennyblackmusic.com can have their pages up for years after they went out of business or whatever. If I don't pay my internet bill they shut it off at the end of the month ,,,,

I don't know if it is gone, it just hasn't been updated in a long time I think.

penny black still updates their magazine but they don't seem to get any new records in any more.

eight years pass...

The Norman Records sale is on for the next hour. It's a bit of a slog but there are albums by Cavil, Gnac, Mark Tranmer, James Yorkston, British Sea Power, Iron Henry, Pop Ambient 2011, Porn Sword Tobacco, Hauschka, King Creosote ... around the £2-£3 mark.

three weeks pass...

Reasonable sale on at Bleep, at the moment.

Strangely, I've only just noticed this thread wasn't about Boomkat the record shop ... ah well.

djh, Monday, 2 February 2015 21:19 (ten years ago)

ah man that's hilarious

misterjoshua, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 02:58 (ten years ago)

nine years pass...

assuming this thread doubles as one for the distro / shop

wish there was a way to opt out of promo emails about cassettes. I enjoy receiving boomkat's updates but I feel like half of the emails I'm getting from them lately are about cassettes in editions of fewer than 100 copies. Even if I did collect cassettes, I'm in the US and there is no way I'm paying $30+ with shipping for a cassette, pro-dubbed or otherwise. I still can't even bring myself to buy the new "Hyperdub exclusive" Burial / Kode9 12" because I can't rationalize paying $35 for a 14-minute record, let alone a Jake Muir mix on cassette
