This year's event takes place between Friday, August 22 and Sunday, August 24 at Temple Newsam in Leeds and Richfield Avenue in Reading, subject to licence.

At Reading on the Friday (which corresponds to Saturday at Leeds), Linkin Park will headline the Main Stage, with support from Blink 182.

The following day in Reading (23), which corresponds to Sunday 24 in Leeds, Blur, as they did in 1999, will headline the Main Stage, on a bill that includes The White Stripes.

The final day's bill in Reading (24), which will open the festival in Leeds, will see the return of 1997 headliners Metallica. Support on the Main Stage comes from System Of A Down.

A variety of other bands have been confirmed to play, although their stages and days are yet to be confirmed. They are Sum 41, Beck, Placebo, Doves, The Streets, The Music, Courtney Love, The Polyphonic Spree, AFI, Hundred Reasons, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Datsuns and The Mars Volta.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, and are priced £95 for a weekend pass.

No News on the sister event in Glasgow. Which struggled last year with ticket sales. Less than 10,000 turned up each day . As T In The Park reigned supreme with the biggest names in music playing there.
