Faith No More's Songs to Make Love To is great for the utterly ridiculous "Das Schutsenfest" alone (btw, anybody know what the lyrics to this translate into in English?), as well as a spot-on gorgeous cover of The Commodores' classic "Easy" that somehow got this rather heavy band a brief few months of radio rotation on easy listening & lite rock stations across the country.

vs.

Loveage: Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By, on which Dan the Automator, Mike Patton, and Alysian Fields' Jennifer Charles conjure up some heartily dark and sensual odes to gettin' it on. Of the two, this is the album I particularly prefer, mostly 'cause the combination of Mike Patton + Jennifer Charles' voices = even greater than simply the sum of the parts.

It's so good to know that the lyrics to "Das Shutsenfest" live up to the music in terms of ridiculousness.

Hippie Jam Song

To feel the heat of the summer time,
I'm gonna find me a summer job
To feel the heat of the summer time,
I'm gonna find me a summer job
I'm in good hands, won't you change my bag
I need some help won't you change my bag
Hellelujia, blah blah blah (?????), put some clothes on wash those feet
That's about as funny as a bake sale,
That's about as deep as your pocket change
That's about as sour as ???
That's about as thick as the hair on your back
That's about as easy as a ???
That's about as bony as your bony as your butt cheek
That's about as ??????
Open this valve and change my bag
It's nice and warm won't you change my bag

Well said. Lovage was like a joke that wasn't very funny set to cutting edge sub-sneaker pimps beats. FNM's cover of "Easy" puts em over Lovage EASY, HAHAHAHAHA.

Dan just needs to spend more than a long weekend putting a record together sometime.
