I'm listening to a recording of Copeland's "In The Beginning" which I sang in this past October and verging on tears because it's so beautiful. Agree or disagree? Does anyone else know it? Because you should.

I sang it in 1976 and I think it is an incredible piece. I am looking for a recording of it.

I agree that Copland's "In the Beginning" is of great beauty and unfortunitely, one of his lessor known pieces.

"In the Beginning" has been released on Compact Disk in a set titled, "A Copland Celebration - Vol 3".

Included in this two disk set are:

"Old American Songs, Sets 1 & 2" (Recorded 5/1962)
"Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson" (Recorded 11/1964)
"In the Begining" (Recorded 3/1965)
"Lark" (Recorded 3/1965)
"The Tender Land - Opera in Three Acts" (Recorded 7/1965)

This set is published under the Sony Classical label (copland.sonyclassical.com). This is the first CD release for most of these pieces.

Hope this helps.
