I am. Et vous?

I'll be the old, drunk jackass in the ill-fitting Killing Joke t-shirt.

give them a "matador at the door" heckle from me.
or
"i love matt marnik"
or even still
"who broke the neeeeeeeews? who broke the news to you?"
or
"kick punch bite fight"

or a combo of all 4 to ensure that they don't play an encore.

I wish I was going. Instead, I'll be home writing a 10 page paper on Rousseau. Have a drink for me.

Oh bummah. I'll be travelling with two likely lads (neither of whom appreciate the Joke with the same fervor as I, but still fire-honorers they) who are single and on the prowl. Your loss, m'dear.

Oh, jesus, like I need more boyfriends, I have more boyfriends than days of the week at this point.

At the Mercury Lounge? I think my friend Carlos.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, they're not an all-girl Swedish punk band are they?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw Hot Hot Heat on Halloween last year, but didn't realize it until about a week ago. It had a lot to do with eating many, many "magic" cookies before the show and spending all the sets save The Coachwhips, Deerhoof, Hella and La Machine huddled on the floor among the crowd of people.

i'm not a hot hot heat fan. but if alex, mary and ally are all at that show, then ...

I can't believe people like this band. They're almost as awful as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

i liked their old spastic stuff but what little of the new stuff i've heard sounded as shitty as what little of the dismemberment plan i've heard.

brian badword (badwords), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 06:01 (twenty-two years ago)

roger - i thought the 'awfulness' was the appeal?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

How was the show?

Dude, I didn't even go out for the after-soccer-drinking last nite, I had a paper to work on. About the Holocaust. Someone please kill me now.

Good lord that picture is brilliant.

The show? Well, for a start it was fuckin' packed (they sold the place out, somewhat surprisingly). They were....ummmmm.....fine, I guess. Myself and my simillarly ill-advised co-horts were already well down the path to Drunktown by the time the band hit the stage. I remember not NOT liking them, if that makes sense. They played the clutch of songs of theirs that I like. No covers. They bounced around like gibbons. The guitar player's cool. That's about it, really. Those who had been thinking of going and didn't shouldn't beat themselves up about it, as it was low on surprises.

BOUNCING AROUND LIKE GIBBONS? Dear lord, rub my misery in my face more.
