Spinning off from the V.U. and Nico thread: What (or whose) album(s) has been remastered for CD the most times?

I have nominate two artists: The Doors have redone their catalogue at least three times since the late 80s with out adding much other than improved sonics, and Motown has done umpteen versions of both "What's Going On" and "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye while only recently adding any bonus material. I think even did them as a CD twofer for a brief period.

What do you think?

"Kind of Blue fer sure"

I love that it says "I know you're thinking 'Why, another reissue of Kind of Blue' on the back cover of the Legacy reissue.

Weren't some of the LPs mastered wrong too? I don't have my copy with me at the moment to get my facts straight.

I'd say something like Dark Side of the Moon or The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust, but invariably the right answer is some seemingly esoteric jazzbo thingamajig.

A lot of Miles' stuff on Columbia has been remasted more than twice.

"Birth of the Cool" had at least three go-rounds, not counting Japanese versions.

Dark Side of the Moon

has just been re-mastered _again_ into SACD 5.1 and they've re-released it on cassette too.

The Gilded Palace of Sin--at least five issues on CD, all different masters.

(But yeah some obscure jazzbo thing probably has it beat.)

Re Kind of Blue, I remember reading that *most* of the LP copies out there had some kind of slightly off-pitch mastering on one side, or something like that. I have the original CD, an 80's remastered LP, and the new CD, and I play the new CD the most. The remastering really sounds sweet and natural; I can't imagine any better. It also has nice liner notes and photos, and sells for like 10 bucks.

How about the entire ELP catalogue? At least there have been lots of remasters.

"What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye has been released in a zillion versions. I don't think they are all remasters though.
