after i FAP.
assuming i survive FAPeeing, not that I wouldn't, but...
so, they rock, i think.
"fuck the champagne, we want gin!" an' stuff

my question is, should i heckle them, and if so, how?
i was thinking: "art school nihilism HAHA"

?

If last night's show was any indication, take a 10,000 candlepower spotlight with you and continue to blast it in their eyes.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

heh I was a little worried abt this conflicting. I thought about going myself. Maybe.

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Go. You gotta go. IF nothing else, see the opening act, S-PRCSS. I can't recommend their CD, but they were great live. I almost didn't go .. turned out to be one of the better shows I've seen in awhile.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

they're not nihilistic at all! they're really fucking life-affirming (wish I could come up w/something less cheesy but there you go), grate rhythm section, insane, superfun frontman, a guranteed good time even if he just stands there.

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Matos -- I was on the fence about going the show tonight (Chicago), but that just sealed the deal. Thanks.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

is S-PRCSS any relation to s process? (amazing band...)

so is les savy fav... only heckle them if you want special attention... as if they need any more reason to get into the crowd and play...

but I've seen 'em! come to think, that show ended up being the time I turned up in an I Saw You in the CP, so I guess it's in my best interests to go again.

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

S Process' MNML is my favorite debut CD of the year. Now I really want to see them live.

Curt (cgould), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

They're way better live than on the CD... I was in awe. They may have been better than LSF.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

wow i've been waiting desperately for years to be in I Saw You.

gabriel (gabe), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

"MNML" is not s process's debut cd... they have a few others before that one...

didn't know they had a new one tho... thanks!

anyone have good Les Savy Fav live stories?

mine: overweight, balding singer slowy strips entire night until he's only wearing tiny baseball coach shorts. after he lets a beach ball out into the crowd and borrows an audience member's video camera, he pulls someone from the crowd up on stage. they each take off their shoes, give each other foot massages, and then the singer sticks the nasty sweaty sock into his mouth and sucks audience member's toes. icky.

JasonD (JasonD), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought they'd only done singles or maybe an EP before, vinyl or compact disc. Were they good?

Curt (cgould), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw the vocalist jump onto the bar of the Met Cafe in Providence and knock over drinks, swing around hanging lamps and kick people.

I don't really like LSF recorded, though. Live they can get by on energy alone.

Ian Johnson (orion), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw them for the first time last night. At the beginning of the show I thought the lead singer had the capacity to kill himself on stage. Then, halfway through the show, he looped the mic cord around an overhead pipe, stuck his neck through it (and an arm) and swung from it. I was thinking, Oh please, don't let him accidentally hang himself ...

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

At a show in DC two years ago the frontman split the seat of his pants (accidentally, I think) while on stage. He'd announced earlier that his girlfriend's parents were in the audience that night...wonder what they thought of the show.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I love Les Savy Fav. Last time I saw them the singer was wearing a huge winter coat with a fur-trimmed hood in a 90 degree night club. He had the hood up and closed most of the way around his face. The time before that he ran through the audience entagling people in the mic cord. I like that they are confrontational but you don't feel like he's attacking you, more like he's including you.

I thought they'd only done singles or maybe an EP before, vinyl or compact disc. Were they good?

"More Me" was pretty awesome i thought.

seems like they had another one previous to that... but the track star records website is down/gone... insound lists it as a "S/T" 12"... so maybe that was an EP. their split 7" with party of helicopters hooked me back in the day.

still haven't seen them live... one day perhaps. when i get back to the east coast perhaps i'll favor better.

Yeah, last time they were in the Twin Cities they played in the great hall on the St. Paul campus, and no one was there! Still, they made the best of potted trees on stage. (I went walking through the woods...) Oh I must see them at the Turf!

Anyone know when that singles comp. is coming out?

Kate Silver (Kate Silver), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

les savy fav is godawful. godawful.

JP Albin (John Paul Albin), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I agree. They're crap. Unfortunately the Faint likes them, so they're opening for them on the May 10th show. Fuck. Uh, yeah, anyway, Les Savy Fav suck balls. Sweaty marsupial balls.

justin s., Wednesday, 9 April 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

This band does really suck. So does the Faint. In addition, I would rather run up to a pack of rottweilers waving my arms around and screaming than get the attention of the singer of Les Savy Fav when he's wearing short shorts. Basically, I wouldn't reccommend heckling....because he scares me.

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Last night was fun, if a bit sloppy. It was the guitarist's birthday, so the Empty Bottle brought out a cake, which the band divvied up and passed through the crowd. Among the singer's antics: tying someone's hands together in duct-tape, chopping off people's hair with a razor blade, smelling a girl's sweaty armpit, etc. At the same time, focusing on the showmanship meant they sacrificed some of the intricacies of the songs on Go Forth. And they didn't even play "Reprobate's Resume" -- which is insanely good.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

god i hate that band.

mosurock (mosurock), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Why the Les Savy Fav hate? They're a great band with one decent album (Cat & the Cobra), one great one (Go Forth -- which strangely I didn't like at first, but "Adoptuction" and "One to Three" are Godlike) and one amazing EP (Rome Upside Down is damn near perfect). And the Faint are great too (Danse Macabre and Media excluded)! Tim's a great showman and a really, really sweet guy.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

What Yanc3y said.

When I saw them at an outdoor fest thingy last year in, erm, Williamsburg, Tim was swinging the construction lamp being used to light the stage around his head. And I think he had on army camouflage. No one was hurt.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Last night = camouflage vest, nothing underneath
