SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

wouldn't be kind of perverse to see emaciated children wearing shirts with skulls on them?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

they need shirts dammit!

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I had one (the "hits from hell" variety with the eyes and the logo), but my ever-expaning, age-&-beer-induced girth has since prevented me from wearing it in public. It has thus been retired.

women be shoppin!

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the thought of starving kids moaning "why can't we have some GUTS"

dave q, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

They've probably sold more Tee's than albums.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I had two, and a Samhain shirt. Wish I still had the latter.

hstencil, Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have the balls to buy one.

Adam A. (Keiko), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

If they made their t-shirts in tiny sizes I would have one but I only find them in big, huge boy sizes. I don't like baggy shirts, people, get with the program, I expect the Misfits to personally rectify this.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

they have lots of girly t's ally. i have the classic 'walk among us' shirt.

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

how could someone not have a misfits t-shirt?!

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd be hard pressed to buy a new one, lest I be mistaken for someone who espouses the current, deplorably Glenless incarnation of the Misfits.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

alex is otm

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Obviously no one in the world supports that incarnation, why would anyone even think that? What the hell?

chaki, not in the stores I've been in, which pisses me off, and I'm too lazy and luddite to look online to purchase one. Really, owning a Misfits shirt isn't exactly my lifelong dreams so I honestly haven't put much effort into it besides being pissed off when I do look for one and only find giant man shirts instead of nice stretchy girl t's.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

One of the relatively few bands I've actually seen live is the Misfits. Granted, not only where they Glennless, it was right after their singer and drummer quit so the drummer from Murphy's Law was playing with them and Jerry was handling vocals with help from audience members (who all stood in a line as sort of a visual representation of the setlist). I thought it was fun. They come to State College a lot. I think Jerry has family here or something.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

ally do they have hot topic in nyc?

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

One time, I went to a Tricky concert under coersion. He stood there and read some poetry about prison and then had an audience member get up and beatbox, while Tricky looked on. Then he left. This was about 20 minutes of my life. It sounds similar to your Misfits experience.

chaki, probably? I haven't seen one anywhere but I can't imagine they don't. They probably have a trillion of them in Jersey.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

You know it frightens me that you people shop at Hot Topic

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i've long theorized that the Misfits are the only band who have sold more t-shirts than records. i think maybe Joy Division qualifies too. any others?

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

In middle school I had Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth and Red Hot Chili Peppers t-shirts long before I ever had albums of theirs (I've still never owned a Pearl Jam album, and "By The Way" is the first RHCP album I bought). In fact, three wanna-be alt-kids (including myself) wore the Sonic Youth Dirty stuffed animal Alien t-shirt on the first day of school in 8th grade even though none of us had a SY album (they had a whole bunch of the t-shirts at Disc Jockey and we KNEW they were cool). So my guess is Sonic Youth sold more of those than albums.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Why would that frighten anyone? WE ARE YOUNG HIPSTERS FOOL. ALSO WE LIKE SPENCER'S GIFTS.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i dont shop at hot topic, fool.

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

What about Spencer's? They got Magic 8 Balls in there.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

i just realized im defending myself against a guy with a "mullet joke" as a screen name

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:52 (twenty-two years ago)

easy now children...

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

No one is talking about Spencer's.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

ok i will. the spencers nearest to me (i think) is at the northridge mall and it smells like complete sweat and ass. last time i was there a lady in a wheelchair was causing human traffic because the fucking isles are so thin. they have ALOT of Kiss stuff there.

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Chaki wears Hot Topic chain wallet shockah!

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Spencer's is like the KING of KISS memorabilia. It's really shocking, I had no idea there was such a huge call for their stuff until I set foot into a Spencer's.

I don't think we really have these things in NYC to be honest. I mean we have totally weak shit, don't get me wrong, but not chain stores monopolizing the weak shit market.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

im sure gene simmons has some sort of deal worked out with spencers

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

three years pass...
I'm gonna order a Misfits t-shirt soon.
