An alternate title of this thread would be:
"Sometimes, ice cream is being served in Hell"...

I am leaving out all those early 80s teenybopper acts btw, because they wrote their own songs and had kind of their own style, which means they don't qualify to fit into the entire picture.

1. I'll Be There - The Jackson 5
2. No Milk Today - Herman's Hermits
3. ABC - The Jackson 5
4. One Bad Apple - The Osmonds
5. A Different Beat - Boyzone
6. The One And Only - Chesney Hawkes
7. Oops.. I Did It Again - Britney Spears
8. Crazy Horses - The Osmonds
9. Nothing Can Divide Us - Jason Donovan
10.We've Got It Going On - Backstreet Boys

Almost all teenybopper music is melodic, but that doesn't mean the melodies are necessarily good

It is no coindicence that two of the songs I picked are written by two of my fave songwriters, namely Graham Gouldman and Nik Kershaw.

Geir, you don't know happy I am to see Crazy Horses in your list.

Isn't it rather Stooges for your tastes? I mean, it's not that different from "Loose."

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

But it was refreshingly different to come from a teenybopper band anyway

woah, I feel so blessed to catch your one moment of RHYTHM FRENZY!

The Beatles-She Loves You

Disqualified - for the same reasons I disqualified Duran Duran, Kajagoogoo and Wham!

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 10 April 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

But you've got 'Crazy Horses'Geir,The Osmonds wrote that themselves!

Paul R (paul R), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The was an exception anyway. Besides, as a family band managed by their father, they were "manufactured" enough to fit into the picture anyway.

Same about A1. They wrote all of their material themselves (except "Take On Me"), but they were put together as a result of an audition, which makes them "manufactured" enough to count.

I'm surprised nobody picked NKOTB's "Tonight," their infamous attempt at Beatles-style majesty. The lyrics reference earlier hits ("remember when we were hanging tough...had the right stuff") and even has a Penny Lane style trumpet.
