So I got this partly on Tim F's recommendation and partly cos the tracklist was very appealing. Though Tim was his own undoing in that I went in hoping to buy a garage comp.

Anyone else got it? I'm enjoying it alot.

yeah it's fantastic stuff, that Danmass track is the most insanely catchy riff I've heard in ages!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 11 April 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

thats on the Fatboy/Boutique CD from last Summer but i've not heard it yet, will check it out

stevem (blueski), Friday, 11 April 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been looking for a decent house comp for ages so i had a listen to the vinyl copy of le future le funk on the decks at hmv and was underwhelmed so i bought destiny's child, a-ha, the human league, tatu, the white stripes and st etienne all on a whim. i NEED some decent new house but this year's looking really poor so far.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 11 April 2003 22:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Michael it grows on you trust me. My absolute favourite track is the Ewan Pearson (aka mr. pingpong beats) remix of "Perspex Sex", which as an electro track is right up there with "Rippin Kittin" and "Flash" - a metallic riff that sounds like an icy fist squeezing your heart convulsively, and those eerie dramatic strings telling you that the world is ending.

The first disc definitely beats the second though.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 14 April 2003 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Agreed about the first disc yeah.

I heard kitsune love last night Michael, I didn't realise I knew the Alan Braxe track so well. I agree with Tim that the Hooj thing is a grower, it's very subtle and can seem a bit boring the first time you run through it. But it's definitely worth it in the end.

Another mix which is really great is Jacques Lu Cont's new Fabric Live thing, I heard that last night for the first time, he's managed to stick one of his recent DJ sets on CD, basically. Don't know about the rest of you but based on seeing him twice in the last 3 or 4 months I'd have to say he's becoming one of my favourites.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 14 April 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
just heard this for the first time. really enjoyed the first disk, the second's maybe a little dull? but i think i'm going to be listening to the first cd quite a lot over the next few weeks.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 5 June 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Toby, check out that RJ Project track on the second disc - it's a killer!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, i actually picked this up and yeah it is really good. 'c'mon over' by soul mekanik is probably my favourite (along with perspex sex, obv).

michael wells (michael w.), Thursday, 5 June 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I love it, especially the second disc. The first three tracks are my favorite, with the third one making me dance in my chair at work.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 June 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I forget all the names, I must listen again this evening.

I really like the Royksopp remix of Please Stay, it doesn't work amazingly in that mix though, it's a really epic and melancholy record in the right set, gets me every time.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I was playing this at work today and Please Stay was the only track that got me to stop what I was doing and listen to the music - I like this mix but "good music to work to" has to be faint praise. I couldn't get away with the Lu Cont Fabric mix, on the other hand, my career isn't going well enough to be able stand up every five minutes and shout "Oh yes!" Maybe I should get a job in The City, I'd fake my way to Master Of The Universe in no time.

Mike (mratford), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

How old is that Please Stay remix anyway?

Siegbran (eofor), Friday, 6 June 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

3 years maybe?
