Jon Williams (ex machina), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

DJ Martian is a rabid KJ fan too, so that counts. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Avril Lavigne and TATU.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Missy Elliott vs. The Streets.

Lifter Puller gets at least an honorable mention here

James Blount (James Blount), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

It MUST be The Boredoms.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, or The Streets.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Casiotone For The Painfully Alone

seriously, 2 of his most rabid fans post here (nb: Ned is less than rabid)

of his several hundred fans, I'd find that you be hard pressed to find 2 more rabid than those who post here (one has seen him live over 15 times).

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

That kind of reads like "Yes", as in the band- Any truly "rabid" Yes fans on ILX?

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Joe Lakeside to thread!

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Any truly "rabid" Yes fans on ILX?
Yeah, we'd really (*loads pistol*) like to (*cocks pistol*) know who here (*takes aim*) loves Yes. (*waits patiently*)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Bob Stinson was a rabid Yes fan and I like Bob Stinson, does that count?

scott m (mcd), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

"I'd find that you be hard pressed to find 2 more rabid than those who post here (one has seen him live over 15 times)."

15 times?!? Crikey, you got me beat. I probably come in at under a dozen. I have more cassingles than you do tho, so NYAH! I also have that tape made that I was promising you...

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd guess sparks, my bloody valentine, or radiohead.

j fail (cenotaph), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Joe is a more rabid Popol Vuh fan than a Yes fan. I'd go with Missy.

dleone (dleone), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

All the best ILM peoples are more than a bit into the Pet Shop Boys.

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Certainly not System of a Down.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Mr. Al Green stax up well against anybody else, overall.

(Yes, I know he didn't actually record AT Stax Studios.)

Neudonym, Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Me, Helltime, and Kris do enough Turbonegro ranting for you all.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Turbonegro IS the ILx houseband - when I ran into trife they were playing down the street and we were both like 'I thought it was just an ILx injoke'.

James Blount (James Blount), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

He can give a structural breakdown of Topographic Oceans = He is a rabid fan

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

What is meant by "rabid" here? Is it "utter refusal to see anything negative about the band" (a.k.a. 'fanboy')? Or, perhaps not the band, but their music (and if so, do we mean entire discography output, or merely certain section of output)?

Or by "rabid" are we implying more than anything else a nasty or obnoxious overtone in dicussing the band/music? Like Geir might have a stubborn refusal to see anything negative about 70s Genesis, but he overall is still very polite in his mannerisms and never resorts to personal attacks while discussing them?

Both qualities?

Joe (Joe), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

re: sundar, I think it just makes him an informed prog listener -- god knows I don't have the dedication to sit through it many times.

dleone (dleone), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I could do something similar for "Scenes of an Italian Restaurant", and I loathe Billy Joel. :)

Joe (Joe), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

ILE! (Ha!)

Sonny Tremaine (Sonny), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Turbonegro IS the ILx houseband

Why is that? Here in Norway, they are almost mainstream, their albums entering the albums Top 20 and everything. :-)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 10 April 2003 23:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Lots of folks here are down with The Fall.

Ian Johnson (orion), Thursday, 10 April 2003 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

wouldn't it be only fair that to qualify as a "rabid" fan of a band one should be able to prove that one did get rabies from them?
(yes, yes, especially in the case of Yes)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 11 April 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Geir is the luckiest man in the world. Norway is where all the best people live.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 11 April 2003 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

missy elliot and mbv are the obvious ones that spring to mind.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 11 April 2003 15:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I detected some real deeply-felt love for Steely Dan on their POX thread...
