So I heard this song for the first time the other day. These lyrics simply made my heart melt: "I can't let you leave/ cause your beauty won't allow me/ wrapped in my sheets/ like an angel from a bedtime story". A bit soppy I know. So what lyrics have you heard that simply made you go "awe" and who were they written by?

Was gonna be trite and say Sigur Rós or GYBE! or someone, but your question is vulnerable, so...

Not as lyrical as your Red House Painters example, but it's evocative and sweet. Check out Dylan's "Wedding Song" and "Love Song" by the Cure, plus others by Bragg ("The Only One", "Brickbat") for more "awww... help, I'm being nakedly openly vulnerable" moments.
