OK, he hasnt but he is a genius who you surely must go to see at his only UK date this year in May, at the Union Chapel. Feather boas and lipstick are essential.

We love you wufus.

Yep, there's no doubt about it, Rufus Wainwright is a genius, and over-exposure certainly could turn you gay. I'd love to see him live, I'm sure it's a camp delight. Hopefully he'll come to Dublin.

Feather boas and lipstick are essential.

More like tight t-shirts and eyeliner but whatever.

In my own personal hell.

Rufus Wainwright turned me gay

Isn't this the title of an Anal Cunt song?

Ned in doesn't like girly singer shockah!

Sean (Sean), Thursday, 10 April 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah but, Sean, once again you're failing to note that Ned is right.

Chris P (Chris P), Thursday, 10 April 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Right about what? That Rufus is featured in Ned's own hell? Very well. He's featured in my late-night cabaret, with moody lighting and bottomless glass of red wine. The cutest boys all flirt, and I make out with the pick of the litter in my limo on the way home. It all ends in heartbreak, and I have to get my blazer dry-cleaned, but there's always next weekend... there will be more boys, and Rufus goes on at midnight.

Sean (Sean), Thursday, 10 April 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

This is hell, this is hell, I am sorry to tell you.

Chris P (Chris P), Thursday, 10 April 2003 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes indeed. Even hell isn't that hellish.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 April 2003 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It all ends in heartbreak, and I have to get my blazer dry-cleaned

And, you know, you're not supposed to literally break their hearts! Not if you want to keep your drycleaning costs down, anyways.

Great thread title.

And yes, Rufus is good live. I got to see him in an opera house, which fit his voice. You don't know it from the albums, but he has a huge, huge voice. Of course, then he speaks, and his purse falls out of his mouth.

That "cigarettes and chocolate milk" song is really beautiful.

Robin Eisgrau, Saturday, 12 April 2003 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

theres a difference between "beautiful" and "forced"

chaki (chaki), Saturday, 12 April 2003 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, this is namedropping, but when I met Rufus, he told a funny story about when he met Bea Arthur and told her about how he used to watch Golden Girls with his grandmother and it was how they bonded, and now Bea is all tied up with his thoughts of his grandma...and Bea turned to him and said: "Now who are you again?"
