"World Without Tears"

Haven't seen it mentioned, so what does everyone think of Lucinda's new album? After a few listens it's easily the best album I've heard this year. And "Real Live Bleeding Fingers and Broken Guitar Strings" rocks as a song and a title.

I haven't heard the record, but if it wins a Grammy next year they might get it at the public library, so I'll get back to you then. I just wanted to post to this thread because you have such an insanely great name.

It is gorgeous, aside from the two spoken-word tracks. "American Dream" is one of the worst things she's ever done.

Local pop music reviewer Tim P, who is a notrious unfair grouch, has given this the equivalent of one star. Which probably means it's great. Mind you, he did the same thing for Essence, and it was only so-so. Will report back.

It is great! Takes a few listens to sink in, but once it does, WWT is addictive in the same way that Car Wheels was. Here lyrics are deceptively direct, but really there's so much richness and just layers of feeelings behind these songs. Plus, her backing band really creates some interesting sounds within a pretty much rock-blues format. It's better than Essence for sure, which I felt dragged a little (actually a lot). There's more raw energy on this one. I highly recommend it, one of my favorites of this year.

two years pass...
I heard a track from this, "Fruits of My Labor" today on "Adult Acoustic Alternative" radio, and it was actually quite spellbinding. I've always been curious about LW, but never bought anything. Is this the album to get?

In this order...

1. Car Wheels On A Gravel Road (by far her best)
2. Lucinda Williams
3. Sweet Old World
4. World Without Tears
5. Essence

There's a big falloff between Sweet Old World and World Without Tears.

Agree that CWoaGR is her best. WWT not as good, but still mighty fine.
