I'm listening to her and some of it seems pretty good. Focused analysis may be stronger light than she can stand, but I like it in a low-key cabaret-at-the-end-of-the-world kind of pass-the-time-while-waiting-for-Charon kind of way. I'm kind of letting it filter in and out of my consciousness while I do something else... What do y'all think, any cop? I think her main occupation is as a fashion model, am I right?

which album?

Sonny Tremaine (Sonny), Sunday, 13 April 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

'cause i really dug the one she did with lenny kravitz and the whole time i felt wrong for it. but it's really good. sort of francoise hardy french pop but she sort of coos instead of vocalises?

I'd have her in my sleeping bag.

Calum, Sunday, 13 April 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I have her M&J album, but would have to listen to it again...I remember liking "Marilyn & John", though.

She's no Mylene Farmer. You should download her instead, Tracer.

Seconding Mylene here.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 April 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

It's called "Bliss", it's from 2000. The album art is weird, it's all washed-out and suspiciously amateurish, it almost seems like somebody downloaded a "wallpaper" off the net and made their own custom vanessa paradis CD booklet.

I seem to have heard quite a bit about Mylene Farmer, I'll keep an eye out! Is she one of Otis's favorites, Ally?

(I knew Calum would answer this one!)

DON'T GIVE OTIS CREDIT FOR MY FINDS BITCH.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 14 April 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyway I've already played you Mylene Farmer, the same night I introduced you to the trance song about Playstations.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 14 April 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

heh heh you said "Melon Farmer"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 14 April 2003 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

P-L-A-Y-S-T-A-T-I-O-N.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 14 April 2003 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

"What...IS...this...PLAY-STA-TION?"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 April 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

why isnt this a picture thread??

chaki (chaki), Monday, 14 April 2003 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Mylene Farmer albums music sucks, Vanessa's ok.
I recommend her last album to date called "Bliss", and the song "Pourtant" which has sublime strings arrangments.

one year passes...
I have her M&J album, but would have to listen to it again...I remember liking "Marilyn & John", though.

Got a chance to listen to this one a bit more carefully the other night. Much of it is either too late 80s or too precious ("O Maxou Maxou!"), but "Marilyn & John" is definitely a keeper. Also quite nice is "Le Bon Dieu Est un Marin". I didn't really see what the big deal is with "Joe Le Taxi" (the song that put her on the map, to my knowledge).

Joe (Joe), Saturday, 1 May 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh she's well hot. That video ("Be My Baby"?) is too hot for words. And she gets naked in one of her films, the one with Gerard DePardieu.

CRW (CRW), Saturday, 1 May 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Joe la Taxi is such a classic. Also check out the Stereo Total cover!
