so the only thing i've heard from L is this mp3 of a freestyle w jigga, and I really like it, his voice has got a little of that ghostface-brand sad urgency to it (or maybe that's cos the beat is one of those mournful mobb deep piano numbers). anyway, where to from here?

the singles were good - "Put It On," etc, but like his spritual brothers Lord Finesse and Madskillz, he was always a better frrestyler than he was on tracks. Marred by weak production. Some of the finer metaphors of the 94-97 era though. Oh yeah, and he's dead now. I'd download Put It On and kinda call it a day, though many HarlemWorld freaks might disagree.

unfairly left to die in the rawkus ghetto (their biggest seller ever i think?? or at least their only one with pac guesting), one of the last real 90s nyc mcs not to blow up, dude rolled with camron and mase back in the day (yeah thats right rawkus heads, harlems finest!!), lifestylz is solid all through but no real mindblowing tracks, stuff with ditc is all typically ditc, the 2nd best rapper they ever got with after pun, the rawkus album is aight, the pete rock song is disappointing but i love sadat x so fuck it!!

this sounds macarbe, but big l may be my favorite slain mc. i agree with all of st's recommendations (and that the rawkus album kinda bit), but i also liked his earlier horrorcore stuff. pretty ruthless.

didn't L refuse to sign to rockafeller because they wouldn't sign camron?
