Felix should have got a front cover with the NME this year but instead they support hyped no talent/ hyped rubbish such as Andrew W.anK.er - the only thing this plank will achieve - will be stacks of copies in HMV bargain buckets in Jan 2003 with a 2.99 sticker.
― DJ Martian, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)
Anyway by the end of the record I was really enjoying it.

Bah.
He has lots of great stuff, Maddkat Courtships Enter Lite Exit Nite is fantastic, even 5ive thought so. Kittenz and Thee Glitz and his half of the Justin Robertson/Felix Bugged Out mix album deserve to be mentioned too.

Surprisingly, given what I've been saying about pop on the electro (clash) threads, it was what Andy K describes above as the hard techno section in the middle of the mix that I liked best. I swear to God it affected me in the same way as MBV's Loveless does.

Bit of prescience from DJ Martian upthread...
Clashbackk comp track list:
Tracklisting:1 Harry Havana Hissling Hurricane 2 Aphrohead Blindmanwilly 3 Proffessor Traxx Greenland Thump 4 Felix Da Housecat Zeka's Solar Device 5 L.A. Williams Logan's Run 6 Stare5 Bloodloop2 7 Erik Nore Help Me 8 Bryan Zentz Vaccine 9 Aphrohead While They Watched 10 Thee Maddkatt Courtship Vengeance Of A Madman 11 Thee Maddkatt Courtship Mommy Why? 12 Spanky Rejoice 2 Phreedom
Haven't actually heard it, but the fact that it's from '97 and therefore from a creative low point for chicago artists as Relief had played out its innovations and Felix was yet to go glittery suggests to me that it'll be fairly average hard minimal detroit-isms, but with bigger kickdrums.
But that could be prejudicial nonsense.

of his old tracks, "Submarine" is really good.
― Ronan, Thursday, 3 April 2008 22:17 (eighteen years ago)
back in 2001. "...and the glitz" was pretty much the only game in town.

pretty much his first stab @ 80s pop synths.
― Hamildan, Friday, 4 April 2008 10:07 (eighteen years ago)
is it just me or does "enfants" by villalobos/christian vander basically sound a whole lot like felix's remix of "sinnerman" except without the awesome nina simone vocals and without a beat
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 4 April 2008 10:49 (eighteen years ago)

I put it on last night when I was going to sleep, but was out before Kickdrum was over. Really liked "We All Want to be Prince" tho.

― gabb 'bag (s1ocki), Monday, 22 June 2009 21:18 (sixteen years ago)
his remix of rex the dog 'bubblicious' is good in a reliable if unremarkable way. last album was mostly terrible (and i liked at least half of 'devin dazzle').

New full length album Son of Analogue available with the April issue of Mixmag. A third of it is him experimenting with D&B-ish drum patterns and the rest seems like the source material for Last Train To Paris. Only on my second listen, but so far this is my favorite track...

he's a regular touring dj still afaict, seems like he's basically inactive as a producer though, not like he's in any way unique in this.
