He Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss) by The Ronettes.

THIS IS GENIUS! It starts off all slow, and builds, like a quality Phil Spector track should, and there's this fucked up chord change that makes it really dark and horrible, and that contrasting with the girly group harmonies and the wall of sound (tm) makes it HUGE! And the songs fucked up as well - something SM and weird's going on.

Is everything on the Back To Mono box set this good? I'm getting paid Tuesday - that's definitely being a purchase!

How much does Back to Mono usually go for? I have the Best of the Ronettes and the Best of the Crystals and I've got the Christmas album waiting for me whenever I feel like picking it up (I work in a record store), so is there anything else on there that would warrant a purchase of the box?

HMV.co.uk are selling it for £45 (I think) - no doubt it'll be cheaper elsewhere though.

WHen it comes to Spector, what I've heard I've liked, but I don't know what else to buy - and whether or not Ronettes+Crystals = enough without splashing on a box set.

This song = not that good at all despite cheeky/nasty lyrics.
Spector Boxset = Brrrilliant. Get it. But don't buy it because Phil's a wigwearing wifeheadfuckingup moiderer. Download it off me on Soulseek.

Hole did a terrible cover of this on their Unplugged show. At that same show Courtney tried to embarrass me by telling the crowd I was in love with Lou Barlow--uh, please--but it didn't make it onto the TV show and I was really disappointed.
