on the Bang! thread, someone lambasted a millionaire kid buying thrift with songwriting royalties for not being "dangerous."
danger is an abstract property. what danger were the pistols? did they genuinely usher in thatcher? so does 'danger' merely become something of a punk/elvis-hip throwback term for progress? on that massive 12-part jazz series, there was some woman who seemed genuinely, passionatly aggrieved at the beatles for killing her, their, music.

also - is nobleness a moral or aesthetic property? moby dick "a man who does any thing cooly does it genteely" - pistols again used rhetoric of fire and brimstone, bluntly, and though when he's lydon he doesn't sophisticate in outlook, he does in craft cf. 'religion', 'public image'

to simplify: what is the quality of 'danger', and is it useful or fun?

If you live through a dangerous situation, everything in your life becomes more vivid. Food, music and sex all taste better. Danger is useful, fun and good.
Except for the part where you fuck up and end up a permanently crippled vegetable with no bowel control. That bites big beef braunschweiger.

Dude I'm glad you simplified that because I couldn't make any sense out of it. But the "quality" of danger is thrill and thats certainly fun.
and the "useful" aspect of danger is surely what makes a performance or artist seem otherworldly and exiciting. As long as the danger is real or implied and not a pose (like say NiN) because that is anti-fun.To a teen in say... San Antonio...( seeing the Pistols ) the danger in the air feels real it is much like that slo-mo out of body focus you get when your being held up at gun point. I'd kill for a musical thrill like that again

'danger' tends to attatch socio-politik nonsense to what's purely a visceral thrill, though, i think that's why i brought in the nobeleness. don't think i've ever written a word with less clarity, though.
