Strawberry Alarm Clock

I think I may have asked this one before without any joy...

There's a party scene in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, where the SAC are playing an instrumental (sounds a bit like the Monochrome Set with a long organ solo). Anyway, I was just wondering if it's available anywhere...I've scoured SAC albums without any luck & as far as I know, it isn't on the film soundtrack. Can anyone help?

TIA

Jez

Jaysus, the Strawberry Alarm Clock have a song other than 'Incense and Peppermints'?

They played an instrumental on the Bevely Hillbillies too. Sorry, can't help with the Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, doll.

I don't know if they have this soundtrack, but there is a German label that puts out all of the soundtracks to those Russ Meyer films.
It sounds like something that might be up their alley, I've seen them before at the Forced Exposure site.

Tomorrow's World did a great cover of "Tomorrow" on one of the Songs For the Jet Set comps. Kudos, Jez - they should've at least been two-hit wonders, judging from the strength of that song.

It probably is a less special song than i&p but it remains my favorite, 'barefoot in baltimore':

incense and peppermints alone -> they are better than jefferson airplane

No, not remotely plausible, and I like that song just fine. For the record I don't think The Association is better than Jefferson Airplane, and I like them plenty too.

Anyway, I always thought a useful art cinema double bill could be made: "Two With Strawberry Alarm Clock" and then you get two really excellent 60s flicks, "Psych-Out" & "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls".

SAC guitarist Ed King was also a key member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, playing and co-writing on their first three albums (reportedly he got screwed out of writing credits for "Incense" and some other SAC tracks). Fell out with LS, left before the plane crash, came back later, fell out again.
Far as I can tell, this detailed capsule bio is accurate: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/ed-king-mn0000120275/biography
He's said that SAC was pretty screwed-with overall, but I'd still like to hear their albums.

I've never heard any of the SAC albums straight through, but I had a crappy best of cassette in my car for a long time, along with Surrealistic Pillow, and I played the SAC more. Stuff like "Sit With The Guru" is my epitome of goofy bubblepoppsych.
